A summer festival of concerts, shows, and traditions in the heart of the Sicani Mountains

Perched at over a thousand meters above sea level in the Sicani Mountains, in the heart of the Palermo province, the Municipality of Prizzi hosts an annual summer festival that enlivens the historic center for several weeks. It is not just a single event, but a widespread program that weaves together live music, comedy, folk traditions, and religious and sporting moments, spread across the town's squares and streets from July through September.
The heart of the festival lies in the free musical evenings held primarily in Piazza IV Novembre and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele Orlando, the two main open-air spaces in the center. In recent years, the program has alternated between big names in Sicilian and national music and cabaret, and entertainment shows for all ages. Alongside the concerts, the schedule includes the White Night, neighborhood games involving the various districts, sporting events, and celebrations linked to local devotion.
The most iconic moment of the Prizzi summer is the Historic Livestock Fair, held in September at the Foro Boario in the Zachia district. It is one of the oldest fairs in all of Western Sicily: local breeders present animals registered in genealogical books, including the Modicana, Cinisara, and Pezzata Rossa breeds. The fair, tied to the feast of the Most Holy Crucifix and the Virgin of Sorrows, is accompanied by a street food area along Via Libertà , featuring food stalls, show cooking, and tastings of local and regional specialties.
Prizzi is a village of authentic charm, also known for the famous Devil's Dance held at Easter: the Summer festival ideally continues this community spirit, transforming squares and streets into meeting places. For those visiting the Palermo hinterland, it is an opportunity to discover a town rich in history, far from mass tourism, where music in the square is paired with the flavors of the livestock and gastronomic traditions of the Sicani Mountains.
The Prizzi Summer 2026 will return to enliven the squares of the Sicani Mountains village with free concerts, entertainment shows, the White Night, and the traditional Livestock Fair. At the moment, the Municipality of Prizzi has not yet published the detailed calendar and official dates for the 2026 edition: it is recommended to check official channels for updates. Based on previous editions, events are expected to take place between July and September, particularly in Piazza IV Novembre and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele Orlando.
Prizzi can be reached by car via the SS189 and the provincial roads of the Sicani Mountains; it is about an hour and a half from Palermo. The nearest airport is Palermo-Punta Raisi (Falcone-Borsellino).
Concerts and shows in the squares are generally free of charge. Events take place in the historic center, particularly in Piazza IV Novembre and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele Orlando.
For the updated calendar, it is recommended to check the official channels of the Municipality of Prizzi.
