Nebrodi hazelnuts and winter sweets in the pedestrian area of Capo d'Orlando
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Winter Flavours is the festival that celebrates the tastes of the cold season in the heart of Capo d'Orlando, a lively town on the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Messina, overlooking the sea and at the foot of the Nebrodi Park. Organized by the Pro Loco Capo d'Orlando APS, the event enlivens the pedestrian area in the days leading up to Christmas, when the large trees in the center light up with the atmosphere of Advent.
The heart of the event is the Nebrodi hazelnut, one of the identifying products of the mountain territory that overlooks Capo d'Orlando. Along the gastronomic stand, you can taste hazelnuts distributed for free and traditional Sicilian dishes that feature them, above all nougat. Alongside the dried fruit, there is room for Christmas sweets from local pastry shops, in a tasting journey that tells the story of the most authentic Sicily in its winter version.
The festival is not just a moment of taste: the Pro Loco accompanies the tastings with a conference dedicated to the Nebrodi hazelnut and dried fruit, an opportunity to reflect on the value and prospects of a traditional cultivation in the area. The preparation and service of the stand see the collaboration of the Merendino Hotel Institute, which involves students in a practical training experience.
Winter Flavours is part of an annual calendar with which the Pro Loco of Capo d'Orlando celebrates the typical products of the territory in the different seasons, from the Limun'aria festival dedicated to lemons in summer to Ficodindia in Festa in autumn. The winter event ideally closes this path, enhancing the excellence of the Nebrodi and contributing to the animation of the town center during the holidays.
With its free admission and setting in the pedestrian area, Winter Flavours is designed to be experienced by residents and visitors of all ages. A walk among the stands, free tastings, and the Christmas atmosphere make this festival a small ritual of the Orlandino winter, where gastronomy becomes an opportunity for meeting and promoting the Municipality of Capo d'Orlando and the entire Nebrodi area.
The Pro Loco of Capo d'Orlando has not yet published the official program and dates for Winter Flavours 2026. In previous years, the festival took place in the days leading up to Christmas, in the pedestrian area of the center, with a gastronomic stand dedicated to the Nebrodi hazelnut, nougat, and traditional Sicilian sweets. Information will be updated as soon as the Pro Loco announces the calendar for the winter edition.
The event takes place in the pedestrian area of the center of Capo d'Orlando (ME), in Sicily.
