For the end-of-year holidays, Capo d'Orlando—overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea in the province of Messina, Sicily—presents a rich Christmas program promoted by the municipal administration under the title "Un Magico Natale". The event transforms the town center into a vibrant trail of lights, decorations, music, and traditions that accompanies residents and visitors from December 8th until Epiphany.

Markets and Atmosphere

The heart of the festivities lies in the Christmas markets, set up between Piazza Autonomia, Piazza Matteotti, and the main street: stalls featuring handicrafts, handmade decorations, traditional Sicilian sweets, gift ideas, and local products. The lighting of the Christmas tree in Piazza Matteotti officially kicks off the season and draws families and children, who are also greeted by the arrival of Santa Claus.

Nativity Scene Exhibition

A highly anticipated event is the Nativity Scene Exhibition, curated by the Pro Loco and hosted in the Chiesa Maria SS. di Porto Salvo. The exhibition, open until January 6th, showcases artisan and traditional nativity scenes, while festive displays also animate shops and corners of the town center. The event concludes on Epiphany with the awards ceremony for the most beautiful nativity scenes.

Concerts and Shows

The calendar alternates between classical and folk music concerts, Christmas choirs, theatrical performances, and street entertainment, involving local artistic groups and the town band. Numerous events are designed for children, including shows at the cinema-theater and games in the squares. The highlight is the grand New Year's concert in Piazza Matteotti, a collective celebration that attracts a large audience from across the Tyrrhenian coast of the Nebrodi.
