Mountain wine takes center stage in Val Chisone

In Perosa Argentina, a small town in the Val Chisone valley near Turin, Villa Willy transforms every two years into the beating heart of alpine viticulture. Vini all'Insù is a festival celebrating so-called mountain or heroic wines: those produced on steep terraces at high altitudes, where slopes are too rugged for standard farming machinery. It is an event that brings not just bottles to the valley, but a true philosophy of the land.

Thirty producers from five regions

For two days, the tasting stalls host about thirty mountain wine producers from various areas of Piedmont (Pinerolese, Canavese, Susa Valley, Biellese, Langhe), as well as from Liguria, Lombardy, Tuscany, and Sardinia. Visitors can meet the winemakers directly, hear stories of the labor and pride behind heroic viticulture, and taste labels rarely found elsewhere. The local highlights include Pinerolese sparkling wines and Ramìe, the signature wine of the terraced vineyards of Pomaretto.

Guided tastings and tours of heroic vineyards

The heart of the experience lies in the guided tastings curated by AIS Piemonte, featuring thematic paths dedicated to historic alpine grape varieties and pairings with local products. Visitors can also tour the heroic vineyards of Pomaretto to see firsthand what it means to cultivate vines on prohibitive slopes. The refreshment area offers traditional dishes and aperitifs, perfect for pairing with your glass.

A local celebration

Vini all'Insù is organized by the Union of Municipalities of Valli Chisone and Germanasca in collaboration with the Consorzio DOC Pinerolese and AIS Piemonte. Established in 2020 from a shared vision between enthusiasts and local administrators, the biennial festival has become a landmark for those interested in the viticultural culture of the Piedmontese Alps. It is a unique opportunity to discover Perosa Argentina, the Val Chisone, and a way of winemaking that serves as both landscape preservation and mountain stewardship.
