About Avigliana Insieme

Avigliana Insieme is the long-running musical and cultural season that has been bringing the evocative church of Santa Maria Maggiore to life for over twenty-five years in the old town of Avigliana, in the province of Turin. Free concerts, storytelling, exhibitions, and meetings accompany the public from May until the Christmas finale on December 8th. The 2026 edition, the twenty-seventh, is themed "People, Characters, and Personalities" and celebrates figures who have left their mark on music, art, science, and thought.

A season that weaves together music, art, and memory

Avigliana Insieme is much more than just a concert series: it is a cultural project that the Centro Culturale Vita e Pace OdV has been running for over twenty-five years in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, nestled in the medieval old town of Avigliana, in the province of Turin, Piedmont. The season spans many months, from spring until the Christmas finale on December 8th, and offers concerts, musical narratives, exhibitions, parades, and meetings, all with free admission.

The 2026 theme: "People, Characters, and Personalities"

The twenty-seventh edition, scheduled to begin on May 10, 2026, is dedicated to the theme "People, Characters, and Personalities": a journey through the women and men who have left a mark in various fields of knowledge and culture, from music to literature, from philosophy to science. Not just famous figures, but also lesser-known protagonists who have contributed, often silently, to human progress. The thematic approach, successfully tested in previous years, provides unity to a rich and varied calendar.

A church with perfect acoustics

The church of Santa Maria Maggiore, located in a panoramic position in the heart of the old town, is still consecrated and houses an important collection of bronze and plaster statues by the artist Elsa Veglio Turino. Its natural acoustics and intimate atmosphere make it an ideal treasure chest for chamber music. Resonating within the church is a restored 1900 Lipp & Sohn grand piano, which accompanies many of the events with its warm and brilliant sound.

Concerts, voices, and new performances

The program alternates between great classical repertoire, tributes to composers and performers, choirs, young talents, and interdisciplinary projects. Highlights include the preview of the XIII Mendelssohn Festival, concerts held in collaboration with the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Turin and the Casorati Musical High School of Novara, choral festivals, and even a fashion show dedicated to a great personality. There is no shortage of world premieres specifically designed for the season.

A landmark for the city

  • Free admission to all events
  • Calendar spread from May until December 8th
  • Initiative sponsored and supported by the City of Avigliana
  • Collaborations with conservatories, musical high schools, and local choral associations

Avigliana Insieme thus confirms its role as a cultural landmark for Avigliana and the entire Susa Valley, capable of combining the enhancement of the town's historical and artistic heritage with a high-quality musical offering open to all.
