The concert and cultural season at the church of Santa Maria Maggiore
Avigliana Insieme is much more than just a concert series: it is a cultural project that the Centro Culturale Vita e Pace OdV has been running for over twenty-five years in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, nestled in the medieval old town of Avigliana, in the province of Turin, Piedmont. The season spans many months, from spring until the Christmas finale on December 8th, and offers concerts, musical narratives, exhibitions, parades, and meetings, all with free admission.
The twenty-seventh edition, scheduled to begin on May 10, 2026, is dedicated to the theme "People, Characters, and Personalities": a journey through the women and men who have left a mark in various fields of knowledge and culture, from music to literature, from philosophy to science. Not just famous figures, but also lesser-known protagonists who have contributed, often silently, to human progress. The thematic approach, successfully tested in previous years, provides unity to a rich and varied calendar.
The church of Santa Maria Maggiore, located in a panoramic position in the heart of the old town, is still consecrated and houses an important collection of bronze and plaster statues by the artist Elsa Veglio Turino. Its natural acoustics and intimate atmosphere make it an ideal treasure chest for chamber music. Resonating within the church is a restored 1900 Lipp & Sohn grand piano, which accompanies many of the events with its warm and brilliant sound.
The program alternates between great classical repertoire, tributes to composers and performers, choirs, young talents, and interdisciplinary projects. Highlights include the preview of the XIII Mendelssohn Festival, concerts held in collaboration with the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Turin and the Casorati Musical High School of Novara, choral festivals, and even a fashion show dedicated to a great personality. There is no shortage of world premieres specifically designed for the season.
Avigliana Insieme thus confirms its role as a cultural landmark for Avigliana and the entire Susa Valley, capable of combining the enhancement of the town's historical and artistic heritage with a high-quality musical offering open to all.
The twenty-seventh edition of Avigliana Insieme unfolds throughout 2026, with a first part from May 10 to June 28, a second summer phase (from June 30 to September 20), and the traditional closing on December 8th dedicated to Christmas. The common thread of the year is "People, Characters, and Personalities", a tribute to the figures who have left a mark on culture.
All events are held in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, in the old town of Avigliana, with free admission. The season is sponsored and supported by the City of Avigliana.
The second part of the season (from June 30 to September 20) and the final event on December 8th will be announced in a dedicated brochure on the official website www.vitaepace.it.
