The major agro-equestrian fair in Vigone, featuring polenta, equestrian shows, and farming traditions.
In Vigone, a town in the Province of Turin set within the fertile Pinerolo plains, corn and horses are more than just symbols: they are the very heart of the town's rural identity. The National Corn & Horse Fair was created to showcase this deep connection between the land and its bounty, focusing on corn cultivation and horse breeding—particularly trotting horses, which have long been the pride of local stables.
Every year in mid-October, the streets and squares of the historic center come alive with stalls, aromas, and music for three intense days that attract thousands of visitors from across Piedmont. The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Vigone in collaboration with the local municipality, has grown with each edition to become a nationally recognized appointment.
The world of horses is the undisputed star of the fair. The dedicated arena hosts Grand Equestrian Galas, featuring performances by renowned riders and stables, pony rides for children, and skill demonstrations. In recent years, the event has added a new covered arena, allowing spectators to enjoy the shows protected from autumn weather.
The gourmet heart of the fair lies in the gastronomic evenings held under the food pavilion and throughout the town center. Here, corn takes center stage on the plate, with specialties such as polenta concia (cheesy polenta), polenta lasagna, roasts served with mushrooms, and traditional desserts like the famous bacio di mais (corn kiss). The menu is rounded out by bagna cauda and the most authentic flavors of Piedmontese cuisine.
Alongside commercial stalls and displays of vintage tractors, agricultural models, and historic cars and motorcycles, the fair offers a packed calendar of concerts, musical performances, and street artists in the various town squares. A special mention goes to the Panchine d'Artista (Artist Benches) project, a cultural initiative that enriches Vigone every year with new outdoor artworks, as well as the photographic and historical exhibitions hosted in churches and public spaces. Conferences dedicated to the agricultural and cereal sectors complete a program designed for all ages.
The Corn & Horse Fair takes place in the historic center of Vigone, in the Province of Turin. Admission is free (some evening equestrian shows require a ticket). It is the perfect opportunity to discover one of the most genuine traditions of Piedmont, combining agriculture, horses, and excellent food.
