About Vinessum

Vinessum – Vignaioli Protagonisti is the event dedicated to artisan wine and independent winemakers that enlivens Bagnacavallo, in the province of Ravenna, in the spaces of the Ancient Convent of San Francesco. Two days of tasting stands, meetings with producers, direct purchase, and food and wine culture, with over fifty winemakers and food artisans from various Italian regions and abroad.

Vinessum, artisan wine returns home to Bagnacavallo

In the heart of the Romagna plain, Vinessum – Vignaioli Protagonisti is one of the most anticipated events for lovers of natural and artisan wine in Emilia-Romagna. The exhibition takes place in Bagnacavallo, an elegant town in the Province of Ravenna, in the evocative setting of the Antico Convento di San Francesco (Ancient Convent of San Francesco), a monumental complex of 13th-century origin overlooking Via Cadorna, with its cloister and garden that become the salon of artisan wine for two days.

The idea was born from an intuition of Andrea Marchetti and focuses on a precise concept: wine as the fruit of artisan work, an authentic expression of the territory and the winemakers who inhabit it. Not large industrial wineries, but small independent producers who work with minimal intervention in the vineyard and cellar, alongside food artisans, chefs, and musicians who complete the experience.

Winemakers, tasting stands, and conviviality

The heart of Vinessum is the tasting stands: over fifty winemakers welcome visitors, talk about their labels, and pour their wines, offering the opportunity to taste, meet the people behind each bottle, and purchase directly. Alongside wine, there is space for food producers, with cheeses, cured meats, and typical products, in a journey that enhances the entire Italian artisan supply chain.

The spaces of the cloister and garden of the former convent also host moments of conviviality, meetings, and cultural and musical offerings, in a secluded and informal atmosphere that has always been the hallmark of this event. A formula that, after the highly attended editions of the late 2010s, has brought hundreds of enthusiasts, sommeliers, and connoisseurs of good drinking back to Bagnacavallo.

An event for the Romagna wine scene

For Bagnacavallo and for all of Emilia-Romagna, Vinessum represents a precious opportunity to discover Italian artisan viticulture in a historical context of great charm. The event takes place even in case of bad weather, thanks to the covered areas of the convent, and confirms itself as a reference point for those seeking an authentic wine experience, far from the logic of large commercial fairs.

Vinessum — edition 2026

The seventh edition of Vinessum took place on Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Ancient Convent of San Francesco in Bagnacavallo. A grand return after a seven-year hiatus, with over fifty winemakers and food producers from various Italian regions and abroad, tasting stands, direct sales, and convivial moments in the cloister and garden.

The 2026 edition of Vinessum – Vignaioli Protagonisti marked the grand return of the event to Bagnacavallo after seven years since the last edition. In the spaces of the Ancient Convent of San Francesco, over fifty artisan winemakers and food sector producers animated two days dedicated to natural wine and food and wine culture, with participants from various Italian regions and abroad.

The organization was curated by Andrea Marchetti, creator of the exhibition, with Fulvia Damiani and Paolo Camprini for the Ancient Convent of San Francesco and Paolo Babini representing the winemakers, with the support of the Municipality of Bagnacavallo.
