Brisighella DOP extra virgin olive oil is the star in the medieval village
The Olive and Oil Festival is one of the most beloved events of the Romagna autumn and is held every year on the last Sunday of November in the historic center of Brisighella, a splendid village in the Municipality of Brisighella, in the province of Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna. Part of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and a city in the Cittaslow circuit, Brisighella provides the ideal setting for an event that celebrates the most precious fruit of its hills: the olive and its extra virgin oil.
The heart of the festival is the Brisighella DOP extra virgin olive oil, recognized with the protected designation of origin since 1996 and obtained mainly from the native Nostrana di Brisighella cultivar. Alongside Brisighello, you can taste the fine selections of the Terra di Brisighella Agricultural Cooperative, including Nobildrupa, Orfanello, and Pieve Tho, artisan oils that tell the olive-growing vocation of these clay hills overlooking the Lamone valley.
Throughout the day, from 9 am to 8 pm, the village comes alive with numerous initiatives:
The Olive and Oil Festival is the fourth and final stage of the "4 Festivals for 3 Hills" review, which enlivens all Sundays in November in Brisighella: the Pork Festival, the Volpina Pear and Aged Cheese Festival, the Truffle Festival, and finally the festival dedicated to oil. A true symphony of flavors that makes November the most delicious month in the village.
In addition to the festival, it is worth visiting Brisighella's famous monuments: the evocative Donkey Alley, the Manfrediana Fortress, the Clock Tower, and the Sanctuary of Monticino, the three hills that dominate the town. The festival is organized by the Pro Loco of Brisighella with the collaboration of the Terra di Brisighella Agricultural Cooperative and the support of the Municipality.
The Olive and Oil Festival returns to Brisighella for the 2026 edition, scheduled for the last Sunday of November in the village's historic center. Once again, Brisighella DOP extra virgin olive oil will be the star, accompanied by the Nobildrupa, Orfanello, and Pieve Tho selections.
The event, the fourth and final stage of the "4 Festivals for 3 Hills", will offer, as every year, guided tastings, live olive pressing, the Oil Path through the hills, and numerous food and typical product stalls. The definitive program, with times and initiatives, will be announced by the Pro Loco of Brisighella closer to the event.
By car: from Faenza, Brisighella can be reached in about 15 minutes along the SS302 Brisighellese. By train: Brisighella station is on the Faenza-Florence line (Ferrovia Faentina), a short walk from the historic center. During the festival, it is advisable to use the parking lots on the outskirts of the village, as the historic center is pedestrianized.
The event takes place from 9 am to 8 pm in the historic center. Admission to the festival is free; tastings and menus at the food stalls are subject to payment.
