About Olive and Oil Festival

Every last Sunday of November, the historic center of Brisighella, in the heart of the Faenza Apennines, celebrates the Olive and Oil Festival, the last of the four festivals of the "4 Festivals for 3 Hills". From 9 am to 8 pm, alleys and squares fill with stalls, tastings, and aromas: the absolute protagonist is the Brisighella DOP extra virgin olive oil, accompanied by the prized Nobildrupa, Orfanello, and Pieve Tho selections. Between live pressing, walks on the Oil Path, and traditional cuisine, it's the festival that beautifully concludes the gastronomic autumn of Brisighella.

The new oil festival in Brisighella

The Olive and Oil Festival is one of the most beloved events of the Romagna autumn and is held every year on the last Sunday of November in the historic center of Brisighella, a splendid village in the Municipality of Brisighella, in the province of Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna. Part of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and a city in the Cittaslow circuit, Brisighella provides the ideal setting for an event that celebrates the most precious fruit of its hills: the olive and its extra virgin oil.

Brisighella DOP oil, the pride of the territory

The heart of the festival is the Brisighella DOP extra virgin olive oil, recognized with the protected designation of origin since 1996 and obtained mainly from the native Nostrana di Brisighella cultivar. Alongside Brisighello, you can taste the fine selections of the Terra di Brisighella Agricultural Cooperative, including Nobildrupa, Orfanello, and Pieve Tho, artisan oils that tell the olive-growing vocation of these clay hills overlooking the Lamone valley.

Tastings, pressing, and the Oil Path

Throughout the day, from 9 am to 8 pm, the village comes alive with numerous initiatives:

  • Guided tastings of the new oil at the cooperative's stands and in the squares of the center
  • Live olive pressing, to discover firsthand how extra virgin oil is made
  • Oil Path, a walk through the olive groves of the Brisighella hills (approx. 4 km route) with a final tasting
  • Food stalls with themed menus dedicated to the new oil and the flavors of Romagna tradition
  • Market of typical products featuring the gastronomic excellences of the territory

The "4 Festivals for 3 Hills"

The Olive and Oil Festival is the fourth and final stage of the "4 Festivals for 3 Hills" review, which enlivens all Sundays in November in Brisighella: the Pork Festival, the Volpina Pear and Aged Cheese Festival, the Truffle Festival, and finally the festival dedicated to oil. A true symphony of flavors that makes November the most delicious month in the village.

A village to discover

In addition to the festival, it is worth visiting Brisighella's famous monuments: the evocative Donkey Alley, the Manfrediana Fortress, the Clock Tower, and the Sanctuary of Monticino, the three hills that dominate the town. The festival is organized by the Pro Loco of Brisighella with the collaboration of the Terra di Brisighella Agricultural Cooperative and the support of the Municipality.

Olive and Oil Festival โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Olive and Oil Festival is expected in Brisighella on the last Sunday of November, closing the "4 Festivals for 3 Hills" review. As tradition dictates, the historic center will host tastings of Brisighella DOP extra virgin olive oil, live olive pressing, the Oil Path through the olive groves, and food stalls from the Terra di Brisighella cooperative for the entire day. The detailed program will be published by the Pro Loco of Brisighella in the weeks preceding the event.

The Olive and Oil Festival returns to Brisighella for the 2026 edition, scheduled for the last Sunday of November in the village's historic center. Once again, Brisighella DOP extra virgin olive oil will be the star, accompanied by the Nobildrupa, Orfanello, and Pieve Tho selections.

The event, the fourth and final stage of the "4 Festivals for 3 Hills", will offer, as every year, guided tastings, live olive pressing, the Oil Path through the hills, and numerous food and typical product stalls. The definitive program, with times and initiatives, will be announced by the Pro Loco of Brisighella closer to the event.
