Cinema, women's rights, and press freedom at the Pellegrini Civic Centre in Conselice
Le voci della Luna is a new film festival that comes to life in 2026 in Conselice, a municipality in the Bassa Romagna region of Ravenna province, in Emilia-Romagna. Promoted by the Sharhazad association, the event brings auteur cinema to the Gino Pellegrini Civic Centre in Piazza Foresti, the cultural space that hosted the city's programming while the Municipal Theatre remains unavailable.
The common thread of the festival is the word: voices that tell of civil struggles, achievements, and freedoms. The first three events are dedicated to women's rights, chosen to commemorate the 80th anniversary of women's right to vote in Italy. The last screening, however, connects with the Press Freedom Festival, an event that has made Conselice a national reference point on the issue of freedom of information.
The festival unfolds throughout the season, from spring to early autumn, with evening screenings that become an opportunity for community gathering and reflection. Each film is chosen for its narrative value and its ability to stimulate debate on highly current issues.
Conselice is a symbolic location for press freedom: here, during the Resistance, a clandestine printing press published anti-fascist newspapers, which is why the Municipality was awarded the Gold Medal for Civil Merit. It is not surprising, therefore, that a film festival dedicated to memory, rights, and cultural commitment is born in this very town.
The inaugural 2026 edition of the Le voci della Luna festival is spread over four evenings at the Gino Pellegrini Civic Centre in Conselice, organized by the Sharhazad association with the patronage of the Municipality of Conselice and the support of BCC Ravennate, Forlivese e Imolese. A cinematic journey that intertwines civil rights, female emancipation, and freedom of information.
Suffragette (United Kingdom/USA, 2015) by Sarah Gavron — the historical drama about the struggle of British women for the right to vote.
Women Without Men (Germany/Austria/France, 2009) by Shirin Neshat — four women in Iran during the 1953 coup d'état.
Hidden Figures (USA, 2017) by Theodore Melfi — the true story of African-American mathematicians at NASA.
Sbatti il mostro in prima pagina (Italy, 1972) by Marco Bellocchio — screening connected to the Press Freedom Festival.
All screenings are held at the Gino Pellegrini Civic Centre, Piazza Foresti 25. Free admission with Arci membership card, obtainable on-site.
