About Via Claudia Augusta Gourmet Market

The Via Claudia Augusta Gourmet Market is a food, wine, and craft fair that brings the Church Square (Kirchplatz) of Lagundo, South Tyrol, to life every autumn. For three days, along the route of the ancient Roman Via Claudia Augusta, visitors can discover fine wines, honey, jams, cheeses, cured meats, and artisanal specialties from South Tyrolean producers, all within a certified GreenEvent focused on sustainability and local organic products.

A journey of taste along the Via Claudia Augusta

The Via Claudia Augusta Gourmet Market is one of the most anticipated autumn events in Lagundo (Algund), a town in the Burgraviato district located at the gates of Merano, in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol. For three days, the Church Square (Kirchplatz) transforms into a showcase of the finest food, wine, and authentic crafts, symbolically recreating the path of the ancient Roman road Via Claudia Augusta that once connected the Po Valley to the Alpine passes.

Market specialties

Among the stalls set up along the square, food and wine lovers will find the best of South Tyrol and Italy: fine wines and spirits, homemade jams and honey, artisanal syrups, mountain cheeses, cured meats and sausages, as well as olive oil-based specialties and typical products from the Val Venosta. High-quality crafts from local producers are also on display. Visitors can take a break and enjoy dishes served at the food stands, immersed in the relaxed and convivial atmosphere typical of autumn markets.

Tastings and side events

The program is enriched with special events hosted in the foyer of the Thalguterhaus: guided tastings of wines from the Merano Winery, samplings of high-quality South Tyrolean products with expert taste ambassadors, and musical performances. The event is rounded off by the Biofest, a festival dedicated to sustainability and healthy, organic products.

A sustainable event

The Gourmet Market is organized as a GreenEvent: the festival focuses on regional and organic products, consistently avoids single-use plastic waste by favoring reusable packaging, and promotes sustainable mobility by encouraging visitors to reach Lagundo on foot, by bicycle, or via public transport. The flat, accessible town center and its proximity to Merano make the visit convenient for everyone.
