The autumn gourmet market in the Church Square of Lagundo
The Via Claudia Augusta Gourmet Market is one of the most anticipated autumn events in Lagundo (Algund), a town in the Burgraviato district located at the gates of Merano, in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol. For three days, the Church Square (Kirchplatz) transforms into a showcase of the finest food, wine, and authentic crafts, symbolically recreating the path of the ancient Roman road Via Claudia Augusta that once connected the Po Valley to the Alpine passes.
Among the stalls set up along the square, food and wine lovers will find the best of South Tyrol and Italy: fine wines and spirits, homemade jams and honey, artisanal syrups, mountain cheeses, cured meats and sausages, as well as olive oil-based specialties and typical products from the Val Venosta. High-quality crafts from local producers are also on display. Visitors can take a break and enjoy dishes served at the food stands, immersed in the relaxed and convivial atmosphere typical of autumn markets.
The program is enriched with special events hosted in the foyer of the Thalguterhaus: guided tastings of wines from the Merano Winery, samplings of high-quality South Tyrolean products with expert taste ambassadors, and musical performances. The event is rounded off by the Biofest, a festival dedicated to sustainability and healthy, organic products.
The Gourmet Market is organized as a GreenEvent: the festival focuses on regional and organic products, consistently avoids single-use plastic waste by favoring reusable packaging, and promotes sustainable mobility by encouraging visitors to reach Lagundo on foot, by bicycle, or via public transport. The flat, accessible town center and its proximity to Merano make the visit convenient for everyone.
The Via Claudia Augusta Gourmet Market returns to Lagundo from Friday, October 16 to Sunday, October 18, 2026, in the Church Square, open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The stalls offer fine wines, spirits, homemade jams and honey, cheeses, cured meats, and typical South Tyrolean products, alongside crafts from local producers.
Special gourmet events are scheduled in the foyer of the Thalguterhaus: on October 16, a wine tasting from the Merano Winery; on October 17, a tasting of high-quality South Tyrolean products with a certified taste ambassador; and on October 18, the Biofest, the organic festival (9:00 AM–5:00 PM) dedicated to sustainability and authentic products. As in previous editions, the event is organized as a GreenEvent.
