Long summer Wednesdays in the historic center of Termeno on the Wine Road
The Traminer Sommergenuss, also known as Langer Mittwoch (the "Long Wednesday"), is the quintessential summer event in Termeno sulla strada del vino / Tramin an der Weinstraße, in the heart of South Tyrol. For five consecutive Wednesdays between late July and August, the village's historic center transforms into a large open-air lounge: starting at 7:30 PM, the pedestrian area around the Town Hall Square and Via Hans Feur comes alive with music, flavors, and social gatherings until late in the evening.
Termeno is one of the most famous municipalities on the South Tyrolean Wine Road, the home of the aromatic grape variety that gave its name to Gewürztraminer. During the Traminer Sommergenuss, this oenological identity takes center stage: local wineries and winemakers offer tastings of their wines, accompanied by spirits and local specialties. Each evening is dedicated to a different theme, ranging from agriculture to wine, family to culture, with the involvement of local associations, organizations, and innkeepers.
The program alternates musical entertainment with Tyrolean folk culture. Recent editions have featured local bands and artists such as Volle Tschodo, DJ Kurt, and the Traminer Schuhplattler, guardians of traditional South Tyrolean dance. On the gastronomic front, food stalls offer South Tyrolean dishes, summer street food, traditional Strauben (fried pastries), Brettljause, charcuterie boards, and, of course, Traminer wines.
The Traminer Sommergenuss is also designed for children: the Elki Mini Disco, creative workshops, Clown Frida, and carriage rides make the evenings a festive moment for all ages. Cultural aspects are also present, with exhibitions at Casa Menapace and the Evi Andergassen Atelier, displays of historic tractors, and demonstrations by the Volunteer Fire Department and the White Cross. During the evenings, local shops extend their hours until 10:00 PM for late-night shopping.
Situated between vineyards and the nearby Lake Caldaro, the municipality of Termeno offers the ideal setting for this event: a compact village rich in history and flavor, where South Tyrolean tradition meets wine culture. The Traminer Sommergenuss, organized by the Termeno Tourist Association, is an authentic way to experience the South Tyrolean summer, filled with conviviality, good food, and hospitality. Admission is free.
The Traminer Sommergenuss 2026 returns with five weekly appointments: Wednesday, July 29, and August 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2026. From 7:30 PM, the Town Hall Square, Via Hans Feur, and the alleys of Termeno's historic center transform into a journey of taste and entertainment.
The program includes live music with local bands (including Volle Tschodo, DJ Kurt, and the Traminer Schuhplattler), tastings of Traminer wines and spirits, South Tyrolean dishes, street food, and summer specialties. For children, the Elki Mini Disco, carriage rides, and the Clown Frida show are scheduled. There will also be cultural exhibitions and demonstrations by the Volunteer Fire Department. Local shops remain open until 10:00 PM. Free admission.
Each evening is dedicated to a different theme (agriculture, wine, family, culture) with live music, South Tyrolean gastronomy, Traminer wines, crafts, children's entertainment, and late-night shopping until 10:00 PM.
