The major regional LGBTQIA+ rights march, arriving in Grosseto for the first time in 2026
Toscana Pride is not tied to a single city: it is a traveling regional demonstration that selects a different municipality each year to bring the issue of LGBTQIA+ rights to the heart of a new territory. After editions held in Livorno, Pisa, Florence, and Prato, in 2026 the march arrived for the first time in Grosseto, the capital of the Maremma region in Tuscany.
The Grosseto edition coincided with the tenth anniversary of Toscana Pride and took place twenty-two years after the Pride the city hosted in 2004. For the organizing committee, this was a significant symbolic and political milestone: bringing Pride to a province often perceived as marginal means putting communities, local networks, and rights back at the center.
The highlight is the parade on Saturday, June 13th, which crosses the center of Grosseto with floats, rainbow flags, music, and speeches. The meeting point is Piazza Esperanto, from which the march winds along the city boulevards to the final square, where music and speeches from the stage continue. The event is preceded by a long participatory journey involving associations, collectives, and citizens.
Pride is more than just the march. In the days leading up to the parade, Grosseto hosts the Rainbow Week, a week of widespread events: art exhibitions, theatrical performances, book presentations, debates, concerts, and performances. Events animate squares, clubs, and cultural spaces in the historic center, from the information gazebo in Piazza Dante to musical evenings in Piazza San Francesco.
Toscana Pride 2026 is promoted by the Toscana Pride Committee with the support of numerous Grosseto and regional associations, including Cantiere Queer, Working Class Hero, ANPI Grosseto, Arci Grosseto, and the Order of Psychologists of Tuscany. The hallmark of this edition is inclusivity and the recognition of differences, in dialogue with the social and cultural networks of the area.
The tenth anniversary of Toscana Pride chose Grosseto, the capital of the Maremma, for the first time. On Saturday, June 13th, the march crossed the city center with over 15,000 participants, in a day that organizers defined as a success for a territory historically perceived as distant from the rest of Tuscany. Spokesperson Fiora Branconi highlighted how the city showed all its vitality, becoming "more rainbow than before".
The march was preceded by the Rainbow Week, a week of cultural events spread across squares and spaces in the historic center.
Grosseto is served by the railway station on the Rome-Pisa-Genoa Tyrrhenian line. By car, it can be reached via the E80 major road (Aurelia variant). The march takes place in the city center, within walking distance of the station.
For the 2026 edition, a dedicated train was established for the evening return (no. 94496) departing from Grosseto at 9:30 PM, with stops in Livorno, Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia, and Prato, arriving in Florence at 12:32 AM.
In the event area, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the takeaway sale of beverages in glass containers and the introduction of glass containers in general is prohibited.
Participation in the march is free and open to everyone.
