Summer concerts under the stars at Casa Rossa Ximenes
Every summer, in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia, in the province of Grosseto, the Note al Chiaro di Luna festival transforms the terrace of the Casa Rossa Ximenes Museum into an open-air stage. Organized by the Agimus Grosseto association under the artistic direction of maestro Gloria Mazzi, in collaboration with the Municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia, the event offers a series of evening concerts spanning diverse genres: from jazz to swing, from singer-songwriter music to classical, and even tango and Argentine folklore.
The backdrop is one of the most fascinating spots in the Maremma: the Casa Rossa Ximenes, an ancient 18th-century hydraulic building designed by Leonardo Ximenes, now a museum and nature observatory immersed in the Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve, one of Italy's most important wetlands. Listening to live music on this terrace, with the reflection of the moon on the marsh waters and the sound of birds at sunset, offers an experience that goes far beyond a simple concert.
The program consists of a dozen concerts spread throughout the heart of summer, every Tuesday and Thursday. The evenings alternate between chamber ensembles, guitar duos, jazz quartets, tributes to great Italian singer-songwriters, and original musical projects, providing a stage for both established musicians and young talents from the Tuscan region and beyond.
The 2026 edition is dedicated to the writer Carlo Fruttero, an honorary citizen of Castiglione della Pescaia, on the centenary of his birth. The festival thus connects with the memory of one of the most beloved literary figures of the Italian 20th century, who was deeply attached to this corner of Tuscany.
More than just a concert series, Note al Chiaro di Luna is an opportunity to experience a summer evening differently, away from the bustle of the coast. Capacity is limited and booking is recommended: a detail that makes every evening cozy and intimate, perfect for those seeking culture and beauty in the Grosseto Maremma.
