About Nature's Curtain

Nature's Curtain is a new theatre festival for children and families that transforms the Maremma Natural History Museum in Grosseto into a stage dedicated to the environment and biodiversity. For four consecutive Saturdays in June at 6:00 PM, the museum hosts performances that blend theatre, scientific outreach, and entertainment, lightheartedly exploring the relationship between humanity and nature. It is an event designed to introduce young ones to ecological themes through the magic of the stage, held in a landmark of Tuscan naturalistic culture.

A festival where nature takes the stage

Nature's Curtain is a fresh cultural initiative that brings theatre into the halls of the Maremma Natural History Museum, located in the heart of Grosseto's historic centre. For four Saturdays in June, the museum—usually home to naturalistic collections and educational paths—becomes a stage for children and families. It is a unique opportunity to experience a scientific space in a new way, where education meets the emotion of live performance.

Theatre and the environment for the little ones

The festival's central theme is the relationship between humans and the environment, told through a language suitable for all ages. Each show tackles a topic related to nature, biodiversity, and human connections—from invasive species that disrupt ecosystems to the values of friendship and courage, drawing on literary imagination and traditional songs. It is a journey that combines entertainment with ecological awareness, in the spirit of a museum that has long promoted environmental education across the Maremma region.

An initiative by the Fondazione Grosseto Cultura

The festival is promoted by the Maremma Natural History Museum, managed by the Fondazione Grosseto Cultura, and is aimed at families looking to spend an afternoon immersed in both science and theatre. The shows take place on Saturdays in the late afternoon and are designed to involve parents and children in a shared experience.

Grosseto and the naturalistic culture of Tuscany

Located on Strada Corsini, just a few steps from the Medici walls of Grosseto, the Maremma Natural History Museum is one of the main scientific hubs in the province of Grosseto and all of southern Tuscany. With this festival, the museum reaffirms its vocation as more than just an exhibition space; it is a vibrant place for community meetings, learning, and entertainment.
