Three evenings of Upper Maremma cuisine and live music in the village of Campagnatico
Perched on a hill overlooking the Ombrone valley, in the heart of the Grosseto Maremma, the medieval village of Campagnatico hosts Il Paese in Festa every summer, one of the most cherished events on the local calendar. For three consecutive evenings, the historic center, and Piazza Dante in particular, transform into a large open-air meeting point where culinary tradition, music, and conviviality blend into the authentic spirit of Tuscan village festivals.
The beating heart of the festival is the food stand managed by the Pro Loco of Campagnatico, where numerous volunteers hand-prepare typical dishes from the Upper Maremma. The menu features specialties that tell the story of the land and its rustic cuisine:
The stand is open every evening, allowing you to enjoy local delicacies in a family atmosphere while accompanying your dinner with live music.
Each evening features live concerts with a wide selection of musical genres, perfect for dancing and having fun under the Tuscan starry sky. It is a proven formula that attracts residents and visitors from across the province of Grosseto every year.
Beyond the festival, Campagnatico is worth a visit for its medieval village, its walls, the Aldobrandesca Fortress, and the views over the Maremma countryside. The Municipality of Campagnatico, part of the Grosseto province in Tuscany, is an excellent starting point for exploring the inland Maremma, with its hills, olive groves, and ancient villages. The event, with free admission, is the ideal opportunity to experience Maremma hospitality and discover a corner of Tuscany that is less touristy but rich in character.
The 2026 edition of Il Paese in Festa brings Campagnatico to life from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2026. The Pro Loco food stand offers strozzapreti, tortelli maremmani, and snails in sauce every evening, accompanied by live concerts in the square. A new parking area has been set up for the festival. Admission is free.
The musical program for the 2026 edition features on the Piazza Dante stage:
The food stand is open every evening with typical Upper Maremma dishes handmade by Pro Loco volunteers.
Campagnatico can be reached by car via the SS223 Grosseto-Siena road, taking the exit toward the village; it is approximately 25 km from Grosseto. The nearest train station is Grosseto, on the Tyrrhenian line, from where you can continue by car or local transport. A new parking area is available for the event.
The festival takes place over three evenings, with the food stand open every night starting at dinner time.
Admission to the event is free; you only pay for what you consume at the food stand.
