Free concerts and artist talks between Piazza Solti and Punta Ala
Musica di Mare is the summer music festival of Castiglione della Pescaia, a seaside gem in the province of Grosseto and one of the most beloved destinations on the Tuscan coast. Established in 2022 by the vision of maestro Gloria Mazzi, artistic director of Agimus Grosseto, in collaboration with the Municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia, the event offers several evenings of high-quality music each summer with free admission, designed to bring the public closer to national and international stars.
The hallmark of Musica di Mare is its musical salon: before each concert, the artist shares their story in a dialogue led by a journalist, revealing anecdotes, memories, and secrets of their career. It is music preceded by words—an intimate, profound experience that turns a standard concert into a close encounter. The evenings take place in the most evocative locations of the area, from the intimate Piazza Solti in the heart of the village to the panoramic Belvedere dello Sparviero in Punta Ala, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The 2026 edition confirms the high caliber of the programming, spanning from jazz and opera to musical theatre. It opens on June 28 with the duo of pianist Danilo Rea and trumpeter Flavio Boltro, followed on July 12 by the Favete Linguis trio led by Stefano Fresi in a tribute to the Quartetto Cetra. The grand finale on August 27 features tenor Plácido Domingo, in collaboration with the Accademia Solti: a major international event for a small town in the Maremma.
A medieval village dominated by its castle and overlooking the sea, Castiglione della Pescaia is one of Tuscany's most renowned Blue Flag destinations. Its location, between the Tombolo pine forest and the Maremma hills, makes it the ideal setting for a festival that seeks to combine musical quality with landscape beauty. Punta Ala, an exclusive hamlet of the municipality, completes the festival's geography with its Belvedere dello Sparviero.
Thanks to the choice of free admission, Musica di Mare appeals to both residents and the many tourists who enliven the Grosseto coast during the summer months. It is a rare opportunity to hear great performers in intimate, free settings, contributing to one of the richest cultural summers in southern Tuscany.
The fifth edition of Musica di Mare spans three evenings between late June and late August 2026, maintaining the "musical salon" format that precedes each concert. The festival, organized by Agimus Grosseto and the Municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia under the artistic direction of maestro Gloria Mazzi, continues to offer free admission for all events.
The program alternates between jazz, musical theatre, and opera, culminating in the evening with Plácido Domingo, held in collaboration with the Accademia Solti.
Castiglione della Pescaia can be reached by car via the SS322 or the Grosseto exit of the SS1 Aurelia. The reference train station is Grosseto, connected to the village by local bus lines. Punta Ala is about a 20-minute drive from the center.
The evenings are held in Piazza Solti, in the center of Castiglione della Pescaia, and at the Belvedere dello Sparviero in Punta Ala.
Admission to all events is free. It is recommended to arrive early to secure a seat.
