About Taller & Tuba

Taller & Tuba is the summer food and wine festival in Marlengo, South Tyrol: four evenings at the Festplatz where local restaurateurs cook South Tyrolean specialties on the spot, while local winemakers, the Cantina Merano, and local distillers offer wines and spirits. The backdrop is provided by bands and traditional music groups animating the church square. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is that of a convivial village in the Merano area.

Taller & Tuba: taste and music under the stars of Marlengo

Taller & Tuba is the summer event that combines cuisine, wine, and music in the heart of Marlengo/Marling, a charming town in the Merano area overlooking the Merano basin, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). The name plays on the two elements of the festival: the Taller, a traditional South Tyrolean dish, and the Tuba, a symbol of the folk music that accompanies every evening. The event takes place at the Festplatz, on the town's church square, and attracts guests and vacationers in a festive village atmosphere.

Evenings at the Festplatz

On four summer Thursday evenings, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Marlengo's restaurateurs set up their stands and prepare local specialties on the spot. The square transforms into a long communal table where people eat, drink, and listen to live music, with bands and ensembles alternating each evening to perform traditional Tyrolean songs and dance melodies.

What to eat and drink

The menu changes for every event and features the great classics of South Tyrolean cuisine:

  • Speckbrettl and platters of cold cuts and South Tyrolean speck;
  • trilogy of canederli (Knödel) in typical variations;
  • pork fillet, smoked trout, tartare, and seasonal dishes;
  • apple strudel and traditional desserts, such as chocolate mousse.

Accompanying the dishes are wines from Marlengo's winemakers, those from the Cantina Merano, and spirits and liqueurs from local producers: a tasting journey that highlights the winemaking vocation of the Merano basin.

An event in the Merano area

Organized by the Marlengo Tourist Association (Tourismusverein Marling), Taller & Tuba is now a summer tradition in the village and an opportunity to discover South Tyrolean hospitality in an intimate and authentic setting. Admission is free: you only pay for the food and drinks consumed at the stands. All around, the landscape of orchards, vineyards, and scenic trails of Marlengo, just a few minutes from Merano.
