Summer musical evenings every Wednesday at Piazza Raiffeisen in Scena
Every Wednesday evening from late May to early September, the heart of Scena/Schenna—a municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, South Tyrol, overlooking the Merano basin—transforms into an open-air stage. The Sommerabende (Summer Evenings) are one of the most beloved summer traditions in the Meraner Land, offering live music, evening shopping, and a festive atmosphere in the central Piazza Raiffeisen (Raiffeisenplatz).
Music is the soul of these evenings. The square's stage hosts a rotating lineup of traditional folk groups, rock and pop bands, party bands, and authentic Böhmische (Bohemian) and Schlager ensembles. Local brass bands (Musikkapellen) from neighboring villages also perform, bringing the rich Tyrolean band tradition directly to the square. The program ranges from alpine classics to evergreen hits, appealing to families, residents, and holidaymakers alike.
The Summer Evenings are a true village festival. Shops remain open until 9:30 PM for late-night shopping, while food stalls managed by local associations serve South Tyrolean specialties and regional products. The experience is completed by the Schenner Dorfmarktl, a village market showcasing local crafts and produce. Admission is free, and the festivities generally begin around 8:00 PM.
Thanks to Scena's sunny location, mild summer evenings, and proximity to Merano, the Sommerabende have become a classic event for visitors to the Burgraviato region. Organized by the Scena Tourist Office (Tourismusverein Schenna), the event runs throughout the season, offering a different musical act each week and a perfect excuse to enjoy the village center after sunset.
In 2026, the Sommerabende of Scena/Schenna return every Wednesday evening to Piazza Raiffeisen, from late May until early September. Each week, a different band takes the stage: folk, rock, pop, party bands, and Böhmische formations, with shops open until 9:30 PM, local food stalls, and the Schenner Dorfmarktl. Free admission.
The evenings are held every Wednesday from late May to early September; the full calendar with all weekly bands is published by the Scena Tourist Office at www.schenna.com. Start time is generally 8:00 PM.
