Contemporary European jazz amidst the copper stills of the Roner distillery, along the South Tyrolean Wine Road.
The Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige is the premier event dedicated to contemporary jazz in Trentino-Alto Adige and one of the most original in Europe. Established in 1983, every summer it hosts over fifty concerts across South Tyrol, transforming cities, valleys, wineries, and industrial sites into one large, traveling stage. Among its most evocative stops is the Brennerei Roner (Roner Distillery) in Termeno sulla strada del vino (Tramin an der Weinstraße), located in the Municipality of Termeno, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.
True to its mission of selecting unconventional venues, the festival chooses the historic Roner distillery in Termeno, founded in 1946 and long dedicated to the art of distilling the finest fruits and wines of South Tyrol. The evening follows a well-established ritual: a welcome aperitif and tasting of the house spirits, followed by a guided tour of the facilities, and finally, a concert amidst the stills and barrels. The audience experiences live music in an environment rich in aromas and history, where sound dialogues with the distillery's industrial architecture.
In line with the artistic vision of the Südtirol Jazzfestival, the stop at Roner showcases young international ensembles and sound research projects, creating a continuous dialogue between free improvisation, hypnotic grooves, and rock-infused energy. It is a unique opportunity for the public to hear emerging voices of contemporary European jazz in an intimate and unusual setting.
The municipality of Termeno sulla strada del vino, world-renowned for the Gewürztraminer grape which finds its ancestral home here, is one of the most fascinating destinations in the Bassa Atesina region. The village, with its terraced vineyards and typical South Tyrolean architecture, provides the ideal setting for an event that combines original jazz, fine food and wine, and breathtaking landscapes. The Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige stop at Brennerei Roner adds an international cultural touch to the local offerings, confirming the festival as one of the most distinctive highlights of the South Tyrolean summer.
The Tramin stop is part of the festival's widespread program, which brings contemporary jazz to dozens of different locations across the Province of Bolzano every summer: wineries, forests, mountain huts, museums, and industrial sites. It is a unique model in Italy, capable of revealing the South Tyrolean territory through live music and immersive experiences.
In 2026, the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige stopped at the Brennerei Roner in Termeno sulla strada del vino for a concert on Tuesday, June 30, as part of the festival edition running from June 26 to July 5, 2026.
The evening followed the customary formula of the Tramin stop: at 8:00 PM, guests were welcomed with an aperitif and tasting of the house spirits, at 8:30 PM, a guided tour of the facilities took place, and at 9:00 PM, the concert by the Spin & Spells trio began, featuring Raphaël Quenehen on sax and percussion, Simon Winse on kamélé ngoni, and Rafaëlle Rinaudo on electric harp. A project with dense, hypnotic soundscapes, balancing free improvisation, groove, and rock-like energy.
The event confirmed the festival's formula: young talents of the European jazz scene in unusual and evocative locations within the Municipality of Termeno, in the Province of Bolzano, blending culinary culture with South Tyrolean hospitality.
Brennerei Roner is located in Termeno sulla strada del vino, in the Bassa Atesina region south of Bolzano. By car, it can be reached via the A22 Brenner motorway (Egna/Ora or Bolzano Sud exit) along the Wine Road. Bolzano, served by the Brenner railway, is about 25 km away; from there, Termeno is connected by local bus lines. On-site parking is available.
The Südtirol Jazzfestival concert at Roner in Tramin is free to attend, but booking is mandatory due to limited capacity. Program, times, and reservations are available at suedtiroljazzfestival.com and through the Termeno Tourist Association (tramin.com).
We recommend arriving early for the aperitif and the guided distillery tour, which precede the concert. For those wishing to extend their visit, Termeno offers numerous wineries, traditional restaurants, and hiking trails through the Gewürztraminer vineyards.
