Kaltern Pop Festival

A festival among the vineyards of South Tyrol

The Kaltern Pop Festival is one of the most original musical offerings on the South Tyrolean autumn calendar. Every year, at the end of October, the village of Caldaro sulla strada del vino (Kaltern an der Weinstraße), overlooking the famous Lake Caldaro in the autonomous province of Bolzano, transforms into an intimate, widespread stage. Not a large open-air event, but a series of curated concerts that bring live music into atmospheric spaces, immersed in the vineyard landscape that has made this corner of South Tyrol famous.

Evocative venues

The festival's uniqueness lies in its choice of locations. Concerts take place in unusual and fascinating settings scattered throughout the municipality of Caldaro:

• the Wine Museum (Weinmuseum), the cultural heart of the village;
• the Drescherkeller, an ancient historic cellar;
• the Ansitz Windegg (Castel Windegg), a noble residence;
• the Franciscan church (Franziskanerkirche);
• the Vereinshaus, the community hall.

This layout makes Kaltern Pop an intimate and itinerant experience, where the audience moves from place to place, discovering glimpses of the village between one performance and the next.

Artistic direction and genres

The festival is curated by the artistic team of the historic Haldern Pop Festival, a German benchmark for European indie and singer-songwriter music, led by Stefan Reichmann and his team. This influence is reflected in a sophisticated and international program that pairs singer-songwriters with indie-rock, electro-pop with post-punk, without forgetting roots and traditions through brass bands and choral singing. Artists from all over Europe take the stage, blending Italopop, Austropop, folk, and minimalist sounds for an audience of all ages.

A late October appointment

Defined by the organizers as "the Davos of cultures," Kaltern Pop combines the quality of live music with the food and wine hospitality of South Tyrol, during a period—the end of October—when the region experiences the harvest season and the Törggelen tradition. It is an opportunity to combine listening, exploring the village, and wine culture in one of Italy's most fascinating regions.
