The festival of strawberries and shortcrust pastries in Leinì
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Fragole e Frolere is a popular gastronomic event held in Leinì, a town in the northern outskirts of Turin, in Piedmont. The event brings together two staples of the local confectionery tradition: strawberries, the iconic fruit of spring in the Turin countryside, and frolere, the shortcrust pastries that evoke the region's rural baking heritage.
The festival is promoted by the Andrea Provana l'Ammiraglio Historical-Cultural Association, a group founded in Leinì in 2010 to honor the figure of Andrea Provana, a Savoyard admiral born in the castle of Leinì in 1511 and a key figure in the Battle of Lepanto. The association, which has about one hundred members and a large historical group in 16th-century costumes, complements its historical re-enactments with numerous cultural and gastronomic initiatives, including the famous 'Maratona degli Antipasti' (Appetizer Marathon).
While maintaining an intimate, village-scale feel, Fragole e Frolere offers a culinary journey dedicated to seasonal flavors. Typical offerings at this type of festival include:
More than just a large commercial fair, Fragole e Frolere is a community celebration that highlights local products and the dedication of local volunteers. It is a perfect opportunity to discover Leinì and its Piedmontese identity, amidst Savoyard history, popular traditions, and simple, genuine pastry-making.
The event is held in the spring, during the month of May. To find out the exact date, the detailed program, and the opening hours of the current edition, we recommend checking the official channels of the Andrea Provana l'Ammiraglio Association.
For the 2026 edition, the Andrea Provana l'Ammiraglio Association has announced the appointment with Fragole e Frolere in Leinì for Saturday, May 16, 2026. The festival, dedicated to seasonal strawberries and local shortcrust pastries, confirms the gastronomic and convivial vocation of the event.
At the moment, the detailed program, including times and stalls, has not been published on official channels. We recommend checking the association's website and Facebook page for updates.
Leinì is located about 15 km north of Turin. By car, it can be reached from the Turin ring road (tangenziale) by taking the exit towards Leinì-Volpiano; the town is well-connected to the provincial road network. By train, the reference station is Leinì, on the Turin-Ceres railway line, or other stations in the Canavese area connected by bus services.
Admission to village festivals of this type is usually free; any tastings and purchases are paid for directly at the individual stalls.
