About Milanere Fair

Every autumn, the village of Milanere in Almese becomes the agricultural heart of the lower Susa Valley with its historic Agricultural and Livestock Fair. A full Sunday dedicated to local farms, mountain cattle breed exhibitions, displays of farm machinery and barnyard animals, and markets featuring local produce and handicrafts. With cheese-making demonstrations, equestrian shows, falconry, alpine horns, and roving music, it is a festival that celebrates Piedmont's rural traditions for all ages.

A day dedicated to the agriculture of the Susa Valley

The Milanere Agricultural Fair is one of the most cherished rural events in the lower Susa Valley. It takes place in the village of Almese, in the province of Turin, and every year it attracts a crowd of farmers, exhibitors, families, and rural life enthusiasts for a full Sunday. Created to promote local agriculture, regional products, and Piedmontese rural traditions, the fair has grown edition after edition to become a landmark event for the entire valley.

The livestock exhibition and rural life

The heart of the day is the livestock exhibition, featuring the "barà pustertaler" cattle breed typical of the alpine valleys, alongside barnyard animals and a rich display of agricultural machinery. A market of local products and handicrafts winds through the village streets, where producers, breeders, and artisans from the Susa Valley offer cheeses, cured meats, honey, preserves, and handmade goods.

Demonstrations, shows, and traditions

The fair is a succession of demonstrations and shows that bring the whole day to life:

  • Equestrian show and falconry, organized by industry associations;
  • Cheese-making demonstration, to discover live how mountain cheese is born;
  • Alpine horn performance, with musicians from Italian and French alpine valleys;
  • Roving music and country dance groups that involve the public;
  • Flag-throwers from the City of Avigliana.

A festival for families

The space dedicated to children is one of the event's highlights: pony rides, face painting, stilt walkers, and entertainment make Milanere a perfect destination for a family outing. There is also a gastronomic side, with refreshment areas and tastings of typical products throughout the day.

Where and when

The event is held in the village of Milanere, a few kilometers from the center of Almese, in the province of Turin, in the heart of Piedmont. The event is organized by the Milanere Agricultural Fair Committee with the support of the Municipality of Almese and the main local agricultural associations.
