The three iconic flavors of the Lanzo Valleys, set against a backdrop of medieval charm and tradition

The Torcetto, Grissino and Toma Festival of Lanzo is one of the most beloved food and wine events in the Lanzo Valleys, located in the heart of the Province of Turin. Each edition honors three products that define the identity of this corner of Piedmont: the torcetto, the stirato breadstick, and the toma. The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Lanzo with the support of the Municipality of Lanzo Torinese, aiming to promote the region's history, culture, gastronomy, and tourism.
The torcetto is a centuries-old baked pastry made with flour, butter, and sugar, known for its characteristic elongated teardrop shape. The stirato breadstick has deep roots in local tradition: according to local lore, it was created by physician Teobaldo Pecchio and baker Antonio Brunero. Finally, the toma is a cheese made from raw cow's milk, offering a flavor that is both bold and delicate, serving as a symbol of the alpine pastures of the Lanzo Valleys.
During the festival, the charming historic center of Lanzo Torinese comes alive with historical groups and medieval re-enactments, street performances, concerts, and children's games. Along the streets and squares of the center, you will find food pavilions and stalls, live demonstrations of traditional product preparation, interactive workshops dedicated to the torcetto, artisan displays, and exhibitions. There are also guided tours and themed walks to discover the legends of the village and the natural beauty of the Devil's Bridge Park, one of Lanzo's most iconic landmarks.
To encourage attendance, in recent editions, the Metropolitan City of Turin has provided a free shuttle service from Turin (Porta Susa station) to Lanzo Torinese as part of its sustainable mobility plan. It is a perfect opportunity to explore the Lanzo Valleys without a car and enjoy the festivities in complete relaxation.
For its 20th edition, the Torcetto, Grissino and Toma Festival of Lanzo is scheduled for October 4-5, 2026, with a note that the date is to be confirmed. Pending official confirmation, the event is expected to feature its traditional format: food stalls and pavilions dedicated to torcetto, grissino, and toma, live preparation demonstrations, interactive workshops, historical groups, street performances, and concerts throughout the streets of the medieval village of Lanzo Torinese.
The detailed 2026 program, including schedules, pavilion menus, and potential shuttle information from Turin, has not yet been released. For updated information, you can contact the Pro Loco of Lanzo (tel. +39 391 4785300) or the Lanzo Valleys Tourist Office (tel. +39 0123 28080).
