About Serassi Festival

In Caldonazzo, Valsugana, the Serassi Organ Festival celebrates the only organ from the renowned Serassi school in the province of Trento, housed in the Church of San Sisto. Every summer, a series of evening concerts entrusts this historic instrument to internationally acclaimed organists, offering a journey through the great organ repertoire from Bach and Mozart to 19th and 20th-century composers. Admission is free.

The Serassi Organ Festival in Caldonazzo

In the heart of Valsugana, the Serassi Organ Festival is the summer event that the Municipality of Caldonazzo dedicates to its most precious musical treasure: the historic Serassi organ preserved in the Church of San Sisto. It is the only instrument from the famous Bergamo-based Serassi school present in the province of Trento, a sonic heritage that the festival aims to promote and share with an ever-growing audience.

A unique sonic heritage in Trentino

The Serassi school represents one of the pinnacles of 19th-century Italian organ building. Being able to hear an original instrument from this tradition in Trentino-Alto Adige is a rare opportunity: the festival was created to put this organ back at the center stage, restoring its role as a protagonist through concerts that highlight its tonal qualities and the richness of its registers.

Concerts and performers

The festival consists of a series of evening appointments, all at 9:00 PM in the Church of San Sisto, entrusted to prestigious organists from the most important Italian and European schools. The repertoire ranges from early music to the great classicism, spanning Bach, Händel, Haydn, and Mozart, up to 19th and 20th-century authors, in a journey designed to showcase the full potential of the instrument.

  • Evening concerts in the evocative setting of the Church of San Sisto
  • Nationally and internationally renowned performers
  • Repertoire ranging from early music to the 20th century
  • Free admission until capacity is reached

Artistic direction and organization

The festival is promoted by the Civica Società Musicale di Caldonazzo and curated by artistic directors Mattia Rosati and Anna Nicolussi. The event is part of the town's broader summer calendar while maintaining its own identity linked to organ heritage and sacred and classical music.

Caldonazzo and the Valsugana

Overlooking the lake of the same name, the Municipality of Caldonazzo is one of the most beloved destinations in the Valsugana, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The festival thus combines a musical experience with the discovery of a holiday destination, featuring lake walks, nature, and culture, offering evenings of great artistic value in a setting of rare beauty.
