Un'Estate Spettacolare

A four-month summer in Pergine Valsugana

In Pergine Valsugana, the heart of the Alta Valsugana region in the province of Trento, summer becomes a grand open-air stage. Un'Estate Spettacolare is the festival programme that, from June 5th to September 2nd, brings together the city's main cultural events under one banner: four months of theatre, music, and cinema animating the squares, streets, and hidden gardens of the historic centre, the Corte Ex-Filanda, the Castle of Pergine, and the Municipal Theatre.

A collaborative local project

The programme is the result of a collaboration between Ariateatro ETS and numerous local cultural entities: the CastelPergine ETS Foundation, the Effetto Notte Cinema Club, the Teatro delle Garberie, Arte20, the Banda Sociale di Pergine, the Pergine Festival, the Trentino Book Festival, and the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento. This network of associations and institutions offers a rich calendar, ranging from drama to literature, and from silent films with live music to brass band and symphonic concerts.

The festival's core events

• Apertis Hortis — performances of voice, light, and music in the hidden vegetable gardens and courtyards of the historic centre, in June;
• Trentino Book Festival — the great celebration of books and reading;
• Pergine Festival — a historic event dedicated to contemporary theatre and performing arts;
• Festival Scirocco — silent films with live musical accompaniment at the Castle of Pergine;
• Fili d'aria — an evening theatre series at the Corte Ex-Filanda between July and August;
• Cinema d'estate — open-air film screenings on summer evenings;
• EstaTeatro — free theatre for children and families in the hamlets of Pergine;
• concerts by the Banda Sociale di Pergine and the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento.

Culture spread throughout the city

The strength of Un'Estate Spettacolare lies in taking culture out of conventional venues: performances take place in the most evocative corners of Pergine Valsugana, from the fortress overlooking the town to historic courtyards, and from city squares to the surrounding hamlets. Many events are free, especially those designed for children and families, making the festival accessible to all residents of the Alta Valsugana and Bernstol Community and the many tourists who choose the Valsugana valley for their summer holidays.

An institutionally supported event

The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Autonomous Region of Trentino-Alto Adige, the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Municipality of Pergine Valsugana, the Alta Valsugana and Bernstol Community, the Cassa Rurale Alta Valsugana, and the Caritro Foundation. This institutional recognition testifies to the cultural and social value of this project, now a staple of the Trentino summer scene.
