The weekly classical and chamber music series in Roncegno Terme
The Tuesday Concerts are a staple of live music at Casa Raphael in Roncegno Terme, located in the heart of the Valsugana valley in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Every Tuesday at 9:00 PM, from late March through mid-November, the health retreat opens its doors—specifically the Fireplace Room and the Ballroom—to a long season of classical and chamber music. The series is organized by the Ars Modi Association, under the artistic direction of pianist and composer Edoardo Bruni, in collaboration with Casa Raphael.
The program spans centuries and genres: from Baroque and Romantic repertoires to contemporary works and world music. Throughout the season, the stage hosts pianists, string quartets, wind ensembles, violin-piano duos, choirs, and groups featuring unique instruments like the nyckelharpa, harpsichord, accordion, or chromatic harmonica. A recurring highlight is the "…più piano" series, which pairs the piano with voice, flute, violin, and cello in a collection of intimate, atmospheric concerts.
Alongside established artists, the series provides a platform for young musicians: many performances are entrusted to students and ensembles from Italian conservatories—such as those in Trento, Padua, Brescia, and Vicenza—as well as local music schools. The international dimension is also well-represented, featuring soloists from various countries and winners of the Ars Modi Competition, who bring world-class performances to Roncegno each year.
Admission to all concerts is free with voluntary donations: a formula that brings great music to the public while supporting the association's activities. The setting is the evocative Casa Raphael, a historic Roncegno Terme facility inspired by anthroposophical traditions, nestled in the greenery of Valsugana just a few kilometers from Levico Terme.
Over the years, the "Tuesday Concerts" have become a cultural landmark not only for the guests of Casa Raphael but for the entire community of Roncegno Terme and neighboring towns. The series unites listening, meeting, and sharing, cementing its status as one of the most enduring and beloved musical events in the municipality and the entire Trentino Valsugana region.
The thirty-first edition of the series kicks off on March 31, 2026, and concludes on November 17, 2026, with over thirty concerts scheduled every Tuesday evening at 9:00 PM at Casa Raphael in Roncegno Terme.
Highlights include: the Turquoise Quartet featuring nyckelharpa, oud, tabla, and bandoneon at the opening, performances by conservatory ensembles from Trento, Padua, Brescia, and Vicenza, 2025 Ars Modi Competition winner Grace Tubbs on piano, and several "…più piano" series events featuring voice, flute, violin, and cello. The program alternates between Baroque, Romantic, and contemporary repertoires, closing the season with violin and harpsichord.
