The summer literary festival at the Parco delle Terme in Levico
Levico Meets the Authors is the literary festival that brings summer to life in Levico Terme, a spa town in the Valsugana valley in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Curated by the Levico Terme Municipal Library and La Piccola Libreria, the event brings writers from major Italian publishing houses to the Parco delle Terme every summer for a long series of meetings, readings, and dialogues with the public.
Established in 2016, the festival has become one of the most anticipated cultural events in the Upper Valsugana, attracting readers, curious minds, and enthusiasts from all over Trentino to Levico. The meetings are free and take place mainly outdoors, in a charming natural setting.
The heart of the festival is the historic Parco delle Terme di Levico, one of the most beautiful 19th-century parks in Trentino, known for its monumental trees. Events are held primarily at the Sequoia Installation, in the shade of the imposing centuries-old tree, and in the historic park's amphitheater. In case of bad weather, meetings move to the Palazzo delle Terme or the Teatro Mons. Caproni. Some events also reach other evocative locations in the area, such as the Forte delle Benne.
The calendar ranges from contemporary fiction to great literature, from environmental non-fiction to scientific popularization, with a special focus on themes of the mountains, landscape conservation, and our relationship with nature. There are also meetings dedicated to psychology, education, and relationships, as well as events designed for children and families.
The festival is part of the broader Vivere il Parco summer program, which accompanies the Levico summer season with cultural and entertainment events. Regular guests include nationally renowned authors, joined by journalists and moderators who facilitate the dialogue with the audience.
Meetings generally take place in the late afternoon or evening, with free admission. The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Levico Terme with the support of local entities. For the complete program and any updates on times and venues, it is recommended to check the channels of the Municipal Library and the Municipality.
The 2026 edition of Levico Meets the Authors, the eleventh of the festival, features 26 meetings from July 4 to September 2, following a four-day preview held between May 30 and June 2 at the Parco delle Terme.
The opening of the summer season is entrusted, on Saturday, July 4, to writer and journalist Franco Faggiani with La luce del primo mattino (Fazi, 2026), followed on Sunday, July 5 by Enrico Galiano with Il cuore non va a dormire (Einaudi, 2026). The calendar continues throughout the summer, ranging from contemporary fiction to non-fiction: from educational meetings with Alberto Pellai and Barbara Tamborini to civil themes with Anna Foa, from environmental issues with Luca Mercalli to mountain testimonies with mountaineer Tamara Lunger. The closing, between late August and early September, features Veronica Raimo and a meeting dedicated to water landscapes in Venetian villas with Giuseppe Rallo and Mariapia Cunico.
The events are held at the Sequoia Installation and in the historic park's amphitheater, with relocation to the Palazzo delle Terme or the Teatro Mons. Caproni in case of bad weather. Admission is free.
