The flavors of Sardinia arrive in Cascine di Buti
Every September, the village of Cascine di Buti, in the municipality of Buti near Pisa, transforms into a little corner of Sardinia. The Sardinian Festival, organized by the Contrada La Croce, is a food festival celebrating the flavors and traditions of the island, held over two consecutive weekends at the sports field event space on Via Eroi dello Spazio.
Launched in 2024 and returning with great success the following year, the event has quickly earned its place in the Buti summer calendar, joining the rich series of festivals that enliven Buti and Cascine di Buti from June through autumn. It is an event that combines a passion for good food with a desire for community, all in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
The heart of the festival is, naturally, Sardinian cuisine, prepared according to traditional recipes. It starts with appetizers, featuring traditional cured meats served with crispy pane carasau, followed by malloreddus, the Sardinian gnocchi that are a symbol of the island's pasta. The most anticipated dish is the porceddu, suckling pig roasted according to tradition, while the meal concludes with seadas, fried pastry pockets filled with cheese and drizzled with honey. Everything is accompanied by Sardinian wines, with Cannonau taking center stage, and great beer.
The evenings take place under a covered marquee, ensuring dining is possible regardless of the weather. Food stands open from 7:30 PM, and a takeaway service is available for those who prefer to enjoy the specialties at home. Each evening is enlivened by live music, with various bands alternating to accompany dinner and create a festive atmosphere.
The Sardinian Festival is part of a territory, the municipality of Buti, with a strong culinary and festive tradition. Throughout the summer, the local contrade and associations organize numerous festivals dedicated to typical products, and this island-flavored event represents one of the most original and intriguing proposals in the Tuscan countryside, drawing visitors from Pisa, Pontedera, and neighboring towns.
For the 2026 edition, the Sardinian Festival confirms its two-weekend format: September 4, 5, and 6 and September 11, 12, and 13, at the sports field festival area in Cascine di Buti.
Once again this year, the Contrada La Croce offers a traditional Sardinian menu — appetizers with cured meats and pane carasau, malloreddus, roasted porceddu, and seadas — under the covered marquee, with stands opening at 7:30 PM and a takeaway service available. Each evening is accompanied by live music.
The detailed musical program and guest bands will be announced by the organizers on the Contrada's social media channels in the weeks leading up to the festival.
The structure of the event follows that of previous editions, spanning two weekends in September.
Details of the musical groups for each evening will be communicated by the Contrada La Croce on their social media channels closer to the event.
