Every year in September, the Parco Le Sughere in Bientina transforms into a corner of Sardinia. The Sardinian Festival - With the Heart of Sardinia is one of the most cherished events in the summer calendar of the Circolo Il Risorgimento, located in the village of Quattro Strade, in the province of Pisa. This is more than just a food festival: it is a convivial dinner where island culinary traditions meet a charitable cause, drawing families and food lovers from across the lower Valdarno area and Tuscany to the park.

Authentic island flavors

The menu is the true star of the festival, featuring iconic Sardinian dishes prepared with authentic ingredients and traditional recipes. Highlights from previous editions include:

• Malloreddus (Sardinian gnocchi), prepared with traditional sauces
• Culurgiones, the classic stuffed ravioli from Ogliastra
• Roast suckling pig with potatoes, the famous porceddu
• Pecora in cappotto, a traditional shepherd's dish
• Pane frattau and fregola
• Seadas and su pappai biancu with myrtle jelly for a sweet finish

The meal is perfectly paired with great Sardinian wines, from white Vermentino to red Cannonau. A vegetarian option is also available. Kitchens typically open at 7:30 PM, and reservations are highly recommended.

Music, dancing, and atmosphere

Beyond the dining experience, the Sardinian Festival offers plenty of entertainment. Each evening, the adjacent dance floor hosts live music, with bands and orchestras keeping the party going late into the night. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the festive, communal spirit of island culture, set against the relaxed and familiar backdrop typical of Tuscan village festivals.

A festival with a purpose

What makes this Bientina event truly special is its charitable soul. The event is promoted by the Con il Cuore della Sardegna association in collaboration with Watoto Congo Onlus. All proceeds from the dinners are donated to support the Casa Marisa orphanage in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Over the years, the funds raised have financed concrete projects for the children, ranging from setting up a farm to launching vocational training workshops.

Where and when

The festival takes place at the Circolo Il Risorgimento at Parco Le Sughere, located at Via del Ghinghero 2, in Quattro Strade di Bientina (Municipality of Bientina, Province of Pisa, Tuscany). In case of bad weather, activities move indoors. It is the final major event of the park's summer season, which hosts a rich series of festivals and celebrations from May to September.
