The new wine festival in the heart of San Severo

Sand'Martìn (or Sànd'Martìn in the local dialect) is the grand new wine festival of San Severo, the leading city of the Alto Tavoliere in the province of Foggia, Apulia. The event takes its name from the feast of Saint Martin on November 11th and the traditional farming saying that accompanies this time of year: by Saint Martin, every must becomes wine. For an entire autumn weekend, the historic center transforms into a journey of taste through cellars, barrels, tastings, and tradition.
The common thread of the festival is wine, specifically the San Severo DOC, one of Apulia's historic designations. Dozens of wineries and producers open their stands to the public, showcasing local grape varieties—from fresh whites to reds and rosés. Alongside the wine glasses, you will find typical products of the Daunia region: olive oil, cheeses, cured meats, bread, and local rustic dishes, in a continuous dialogue between wine and gastronomy.
The stage for Sand'Martìn is the historic center of San Severo: Piazza Municipio, the alleys around Palazzo Celestini, and the evocative Galleria Nino Casiglio host stalls, tastings, and shows. City squares and theaters, such as the Teatro Verdi, have hosted concerts and cultural events over the years that enrich the evening program.
The event is organized by the Daunia Enoica Cultural Association in collaboration with the Municipality of San Severo and numerous local associations, including sommeliers and the Pro Loco. The stated goal is to promote off-season tourism and strengthen the city's bond with its oenological heritage and the identity of the Daunia region.
With thousands of visitors each year, Sand'Martìn is now one of the most anticipated autumn events in the province of Foggia: an opportunity to discover San Severo, its wines, and its hospitality during the most poetic moment of the harvest.
The traditional autumn appointment with Sand'Martìn, the new wine festival of San Severo, is expected again for 2026. At the moment, the official dates have not yet been announced: the event is traditionally held in November, on the weekend closest to Saint Martin's Day, in the city's historic center. The detailed program — wineries, San Severo DOC tastings, food stalls, masterclasses, and shows — will be published by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event.
The festival is held every year in November, on the weekend closest to Saint Martin's Day (November 11th), in the historic center of San Severo.
By car: A14 motorway, San Severo exit, then follow signs for the center. By train: San Severo station, on the Adriatic line, a short distance from the historic center.
Admission to the event is free; some tastings and masterclasses may require a fee or the purchase of a glass and tasting tickets.
