Le Cantine del Borgo: Autumn new wine in Roseto Valfortore

Le Cantine del Borgo is the autumn food and wine festival that brings the historic center of Roseto Valfortore to life every November. This small town in the province of Foggia is tucked away in the Daunian Mountains, on the border between Puglia, Campania, and Molise. Created to showcase the village even during the colder months, the event blends the taste of new wine with the discovery of a town recognized by the ANCI as one of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages.

A stone village among Italy's finest

Roseto Valfortore is a jewel of the Daunian Apennines, famous for its stonemasons who have masterfully crafted local stone portals, arches, and narrow alleys. Mountain springs, ancient water mills, and pristine forests frame a medieval urban layout. During Le Cantine del Borgo, this setting becomes an open-air museum: free guided tours starting at 10:00 AM lead visitors through the town's artistic, historical, and natural treasures.

The food and wine trail: wine, truffles, and honey

The heart of the festival is the food and wine trail set up along the streets of the center, with Piazza Vecchia as its hub. The undisputed star is the new wine, paired with the most authentic flavors of the Daunia region. Roseto Valfortore is known as the "town of honey and truffles": its forests offer ideal conditions for both a rich variety of floral species and the prized truffle.

• Markets featuring local specialties and crafts;
• Truffle hunting and extraction demonstrations, with tastings of truffle-based dishes and new wine;
• Visits to honey producers, with samples of dishes prepared with this precious nectar;
• Traditional peasant dishes such as beans, pancotto, and forest products.

Two weekends of celebration

The event traditionally spans two weekends in November. The first weekend is primarily dedicated to new wine tastings, markets, live music, and educational tours through the alleys. The second weekend turns the spotlight on truffles, with hunting demonstrations in the surrounding woods, and honey, with Sunday dedicated to visiting local producers.

A community event

Le Cantine del Borgo is organized by the Municipality of Roseto Valfortore in collaboration with the Pro Loco and the Senza Confini Association, with the goal of promoting the Daunian Mountains region and its food and wine identity during the autumn and winter months. It is an ideal occasion for a slow-paced weekend filled with good wine, genuine flavors, and walks through the stone streets of one of Puglia's most fascinating villages.

The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: the event traditionally takes place in November.
