The great celebration of the precious white truffle of the Upper Tiber Valley
The Salone Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco Pregiato in Città di Castello (province of Perugia) is one of the oldest gastronomic events on the national scene, established in the early eighties. Every autumn, it celebrates the Tuber magnatum Pico, the precious white truffle that makes the Upper Tiber Valley one of Italy's prime territories.
The area produces about a third of Italian white truffles, with over 1,500 truffle hunters and 3,000 dogs involved in the search. An ancient tradition, passed down from generation to generation, for which the search and excavation of truffles has been recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The Salone combines the truffle market with a rich programme of initiatives: show cooking with chefs, sensory analyses and guided tastings, the Village of Flavours with local products, educational workshops, and truffle hunting competitions with Lagotto Romagnolo dogs. For families, there is the Educational Woods, with guided truffle hunting designed for children, in collaboration with Slow Food.
The 2026 edition marks a turning point with the expansion to three weekends in November and the debut of the Palazzo del Bianco, a new and evocative exhibition space set up in a historic building in the city. An unmissable event for gastronomy enthusiasts and those who want to discover the authentic Umbria of truffles.
The 46th edition of the Salone Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco Pregiato will be spread over three weekends in November 2026, extending the duration of the event. The major new feature is the debut of the Palazzo del Bianco, a new and evocative exhibition space set up in a historic building in Città di Castello, designed to showcase white truffles and local products. The truffle market, show cooking, sensory analyses, the Village of Flavours, educational workshops, and truffle hunting competitions with Lagotto Romagnolo dogs remain central.
The detailed programme for the three November weekends in 2026 will be announced in the months preceding the event by the Municipality of Città di Castello and the Salone del Tartufo organisation. The usual structure includes:
