The white truffle and potato of Pietralunga celebrate, amidst the woods of Alta Umbria
The White Truffle and Potato Market Exhibition is the most anticipated autumn event in Pietralunga, a small municipality in the province of Perugia perched on the Umbrian-Marche Apennines. For decades, the event has celebrated the two symbolic products of the territory: the prized white truffle, which grows in the dense woods of the area, and the Pietralunga potato, cultivated on the high-altitude lands and which has become a small regional gastronomic excellence.
During the opening weekends, the historic center comes alive with food and wine stands, markets selling typical products, and artisan shops. The program revolves around various experiences:
The exhibition is also an opportunity to discover Pietralunga and the Upper Tiber Valley, with the Pieve di Santa Maria, the Lombard fortress, and the Apennine panoramas. The event helps to promote one of the most important truffle-producing areas in Umbria, where truffle harvesting is an integral part of the local culture and economy.
The 2026 edition of the White Truffle and Potato Market Exhibition promises to be an expansion. As reported by the local press, the municipal administration of Pietralunga has expressed the intention to double the duration of the event, from two to four weekends in October, to give even more space to local products and visitor hospitality.
The structure of the festival will remain the established one: food stands, markets, show cooking, guided tastings, truffle hunting excursions, and sporting initiatives in the woods.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published. The administration's intention to extend the event to four October weekends is confirmed. The precise dates and the schedule of show cooking, tastings, and excursions will be announced on the official website in the weeks preceding the event.
Pietralunga can be reached by car from the E45 (Umbertide or Città di Castello exit) and then continuing on provincial roads towards the hinterland. The nearest train station is Umbertide or Città di Castello, from which you continue by car.
The event takes place in October, spread over several weekends.
Wear comfortable shoes for walks in the woods and book tastings and show cooking in advance, as places are often limited.
