The first national festival dedicated to Italian sausage, between the taverns and squares of Gubbio's historic center
Ciccia is the first national festival of Italian sausage, created to showcase and offer tastings of one of the country's most popular cured meats in all its infinite regional variations. The setting is the splendid historic center of Gubbio, in the province of Perugia: the ancient taverns and squares of the medieval city are transformed into a large, widespread tasting experience.
The format is that of a widespread tasting: each tavern hosts selected sausage makers and butchers from all over Italy, "from Sicily to Trentino-Alto Adige," who present the various local sausage-making traditions. Accompanying the sausages are regional wineries and craft breweries present in each tavern, along with typical bread from each territory. A taste journey that crosses the entire peninsula.
Ciccia is not just about gastronomy: the program includes live music, concerts, street artists, and events for all ages, as well as a market of regional specialties. A celebration that combines the conviviality of Italian sagre (food festivals) with the quality of a curated selection of producers, while also highlighting the historical and architectural heritage of Gubbio.
The second edition of Ciccia - Festival della Salsiccia Italiana has been confirmed for Autumn 2026 in Gubbio. The organizers announced that from 2026 the festival "changes format," with new modalities still under definition. The heart of the event remains: the widespread tasting in the taverns and squares of the historic center, with sausage makers and butchers from all over Italy, regional wineries and craft breweries, live music, and street artists. The precise dates and the complete program will be officially announced on the website www.ciccia.org.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including dates, exhibitors, and musical lineup, will be announced by the organizers, who have announced a format change. Usual structure: widespread tasting in the historic center's taverns (regional sausages, breweries and wineries, typical bread), live music, concerts, street artists, and family events. Typical hours: Friday 5:00 PM-11:00 PM, Saturday 11:00 AM-11:00 PM, Sunday 11:00 AM-9:00 PM. Updates at ciccia.org.
