Frico celebrates in Fraelacco

In Fraelacco, a hamlet of Tricesimo on the first hill north of Udine, September smells of cheese and potatoes: it's the Sagre dal Frico, the festival dedicated to the most iconic dish of Friulian cuisine. Organized by the Associazione Fraela Insieme in the setting of Villa Veroi, the sagra is now a classic end-of-summer event for the area.

Potato frico and crispy frico

The absolute star is, of course, frico, offered in its two most beloved versions: the soft and hearty potato frico, and the thin and crumbly crispy frico. Alongside the king of the table are other Friulian specialties from the food stand, to be enjoyed together under the festival tent.

Music, dancing and fun for everyone

Each evening is accompanied by live music and dancing, with orchestras and bands alternating on stage. There is no shortage of entertainment for the little ones – including magic shows – card games, tombola (bingo), and dancing, in an atmosphere of authentic village conviviality that involves all ages.

Tricesimo and the foothills of Udine

Fraelacco is located in the municipality of Tricesimo, in the hilly area that rises from Udine towards the Julian Prealps, a land of villages, vineyards, and gastronomic traditions. The Sagre dal Frico are the ideal opportunity to discover this authentic corner of Friuli while savoring a dish that here is much more than a recipe: it is a symbol of identity.
