The Artegna pig festival at the end of autumn
At the end of autumn, as the Friulian countryside prepares for winter, Purcit in Staiare returns to Artegna: the festival dedicated to the pig and the peasant tradition of the foothills. "Purcit" in Friulian means pig, and the festival celebrates the ancient rural culture linked to the processing of pork, once a central moment of village life. Organized by the Pro Loco Artegna, it takes place over two weekends in November.
The heart of the event is gastronomy: the stands offer typical Friulian dishes linked to pork, accompanied by wine and the flavors of autumn. But Purcit in Staiare is much more than a food festival: the program combines live music, markets, stalls, demonstrations of wooden games, and activities for the little ones.
Among the most characteristic initiatives are the woodcutter's triathlon, competitions and tournaments, tribute band performances, and Friulian music evenings, as well as guided tours of the Savorgnan Castle archaeological site, which overlooks the town. A formula that combines taste, sport, culture, and fun for all ages.
More than a festival, Purcit in Staiare is an event that tells the identity of Artegna and its community, supported by the volunteer work of the Pro Loco. It is the ideal opportunity to discover the town, its history, and its authentic flavors in a less touristy but atmospheric time of year.
In 2026, Purcit in Staiare will return to Artegna at the end of November, spread as tradition dictates over two weekends. The Pro Loco Artegna will propose the formula that combines gastronomy, music, culture, and family activities.
The exact dates have not yet been confirmed: in recent editions, the festival took place between mid and late November, over two weekends (Friday-Sunday).
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced in the coming weeks. Based on previous editions, the event includes:
