Festa dei Prati — Pasian di Prato in Festa

A festival that smells of permanent meadows

A few kilometers from Udine, Pasian di Prato preserves a natural treasure that few know about: the permanent meadows, grassy expanses that have never been ploughed, ecosystems among the richest in biodiversity in the Friulian plain. It is to them that the Pro Loco of Pasian di Prato APS dedicates its flagship event, the Festa dei Prati (or Pasian di Prato in Festa), ten days in June where nature, gastronomy, and culture intertwine under the marquees in the Via Missio area.

Wild herbs in the kitchen

The gastronomic heart of the festival is the wild herbs harvested and cooked by Pro Loco volunteers: herb tortelloni, herb risotto, meat patties with herbs, and turkey roast stuffed with herbs. Simple, local cuisine that tells the story of the ancient bond between the community and its meadows, served from midday until late evening.

Culture, music, and nature

The program alternates between very different moments: ecological bike rides and guided tours of the permanent meadows, book presentations, workshops, nature documentaries, theatre in the Friulian language, open-air cinema, dance performances, and every evening, live music with dance orchestras. There is also a photographic exhibition dedicated to the meadows as a natural heritage of the territory and a charity fishing competition, in a schedule designed for families, nature enthusiasts, and the curious of all ages.

A community celebrating

More than just a sagra (local festival), the Festa dei Prati is the village's major collective event, the result of the voluntary work of the Pro Loco and the support of the Municipality of Pasian di Prato. An opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Friuli, where environmental protection becomes a people's celebration.
