Montegnacco's Summer

Montegnacco is a hamlet of Cassacco, a municipality in the gentle morainic hills north of Udine, where the amphitheater of the Julian Prealps frames the landscape. Here, every July, the Pro Loco Montegnacco organizes the Festa d'Estate (Summer Festival), a village festival that for over thirty years has attracted visitors from all over the surrounding area to the Parco Festeggiamenti Zanier.

'Costa alla fiamma', queen of the grill

The signature dish of the festival is the 'costa alla fiamma', cooked over embers and served with other Friulian culinary specialties: grilled vegetables, frico, spit-roasted chicken, and sausage. The kitchen is open every day of the festival starting at 7 PM, with a queueing system for efficient service, using rigid plastic plates and steel cutlery to reduce waste. A festival mindful of sustainability, as well as taste.

Music and community under the stars

Alongside the food stalls, evenings at Parco Zanier are enlivened by music and entertainment, in a familiar and relaxed atmosphere that is the hallmark of festivals in the Friulian hills. The Festa d'Estate di Montegnacco is one of those events that make up the summer of central Friuli: two weekends in July when the community comes together around the grill, at tables, and to the music, supported by the tireless work of the Pro Loco volunteers.
