About Quarte d'Avost

With almost three hundred editions behind it, the Quarte d'Avost (IV d'Agost) in Povoletto is one of the oldest festivals in Friuli. Linked to the devotion to the Madonna della Cintura, it takes place at the end of August with concerts and live music every evening, big orchestras and tribute bands, group dances, a funfair, a charity raffle, rich food and wine stands, and the final fireworks display.

Almost three centuries of history

The Quarte d'Avost (in Friulian, the fourth Sunday of August), also known as IV d'Agost, is one of the oldest and most emblematic festivals in Friuli. In Povoletto, in the hilly Friuli region east of Udine, this festival has its roots in a centuries-old tradition: with almost three hundred celebrated editions, it is a living heritage of the community, linked to the devotion to the Madonna della Cintura.

Live music every evening

The program, created each year by the Pro Loco Povoletto, offers concerts and live music every evening, with big dance orchestras and tribute bands much loved by the public. Over the years, names such as Caramel, the tribute to Zucchero 'Diavolo in Noi', Stefania Marchesi and Mamma Mia, Shoreline and Absolute5 have performed, along with group dances. There are also exhibitions, such as the one dedicated to Oliviero Toscani, and a funfair for the little ones.

Friulian gastronomy

The convivial heart of the festival is the food and wine stand, which offers traditional Friulian dishes: homemade gnocchi with various sauces, grilled meats, skewers, frico, and the inevitable French fries, accompanied by local wines. Added to these is the charity raffle with gastronomic prizes, a true classic of Friulian village festivals.

The grand finale with fireworks

The festival concludes in style with the fireworks display, which lights up the Povoletto sky and seals an event that manages to combine faith, culture, entertainment, and good food. The Quarte d'Avost is much more than a festival: it is the moment when a community preserves and renews, year after year, one of its oldest traditions.

Quarte d'Avost — edition 2026

The 299th Quarte d'Avost returns to Povoletto in August 2026, traditionally around the fourth Sunday of the month, with concerts and live music every evening, big orchestras, a funfair, a charity raffle, food and wine stands, and the final fireworks. Exact dates will be announced by Pro Loco Povoletto.

In 2026, Povoletto will once again celebrate its oldest festival, the Quarte d'Avost, reaching its 299th edition: a week at the end of August filled with music, Friulian gastronomy, a funfair, and fireworks.
