The great food and wine festival of Friuli Venezia Giulia, in the historic centre of Udine
Friuli Doc is the most important food and wine event in Friuli Venezia Giulia and one of the most beloved in the entire Northeast. Founded in 1995 and organised by the Municipality of Udine, every September it transforms the historic centre of the regional capital into an immense showcase of regional flavours and traditions: for four days, the city's squares, loggias, and streets fill with stands, aromas, music, and people, in a festive atmosphere that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors.
The heart of the event is the typical products of the region: Prosciutto di San Daniele DOP, Montasio cheese, gubana, frico, the great Friulian wines, and the many specialities from the Pro Loco associations. The gastronomic offer ranges from traditional Friulian dishes to Adriatic fish, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options also available. Each stand tells a story of a part of the region, from the Carnic mountains to the Grado lagoon.
Friuli Doc is also music, entertainment, and culture: concerts, DJ sets, street performances, exhibitions, meetings, and sporting events liven up the city squares from morning till late at night. Piazza Libertà , Piazza Matteotti, the Castle, and the medieval loggias provide the backdrop for a rich programme, capable of uniting tradition and contemporaneity and engaging families, young people, and lovers of the good life.
More than just a festival, Friuli Doc is a great opportunity to promote Friuli Venezia Giulia, its producers, its landscapes, and its welcoming culture. For those who want to discover the best of regional food and wine and experience Udine at its most festive, it is the event of the year: a journey through the flavours, wines, and traditions of a generous land.
The 32nd edition of Friuli Doc enlivens the historic centre of Udine from September 10th to 13th, 2026, with the slogan 'The city lights up again with taste' and the image created by designer Luca Font. Four days dedicated to the flavours, wines, and traditions of Friuli Venezia Giulia, organised by the Municipality of Udine.
As every year, the squares, loggias, and streets of the centre host dozens of stands with typical regional products — from Prosciutto di San Daniele to Montasio, from gubana to the great Friulian wines — accompanied by a packed programme of concerts, shows, DJ sets, exhibitions, and events for all ages.
The event runs from September 10th to 13th, 2026 in the historic centre of Udine, with gastronomic stands open from morning till late night in the main squares and streets of the city.
Alongside the stands of typical products and wines, the programme features concerts, DJ sets, street performances, exhibitions, cultural meetings, and sporting activities in various squares. As part of Friuli Doc, the final of the Friulian Song Festival will also be held in Piazza Libertà . The detailed programme, with the map of stands and times, will be published on friuli-doc.it in the weeks preceding the event.
Udine is well connected by train and motorway (A23). During Friuli Doc, the historic centre is pedestrianised and very crowded: it is advisable to arrive by train or to park in the outer areas and reach the centre on foot or by shuttle bus.
Admission to the event is free; consumption at the stands is paid for. The programme, map of stands, and times are published on friuli-doc.it and on the Municipality of Udine website.
Udine and its surroundings offer numerous accommodation facilities; advance booking is recommended during the event.
