The Friulian autumn smells of chestnuts

When the hills of Magnano in Riviera are tinged with the colours of autumn, the Pro Loco lights up the large heated marquee and kicks off Sapori di Castagne, the festival that for years has been one of the most beloved gastronomic events in the Friulian foothills. Two October weekends dedicated to the queen of autumn, the chestnut, presented in every possible way.

The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Magnano in Riviera with the patronage of the Municipality, has the formula of a great village festival: the covered and heated marquee guarantees the party even in bad weather, while the kitchen works at full speed to serve a rich and varied table.

A table that goes far beyond chestnuts

Of course, the chestnut is the star - even in its most surprising version, chestnut beer - but the Sapori di Castagne menu embraces all of Friulian tradition: gnocchi, minestrone, porchetta, goulash, the unmissable frico, potatoes, cheeses, and typical desserts. Hearty cuisine, designed to warm up autumn days.

Music, children, and the chestnut march

Alongside the food, the program offers musical evenings with DJ sets and local bands, dancing, the Choral Festival, workshops, and treasure hunts for the little ones. The traditional international chestnut march, a non-competitive walk through the most beautiful landscapes of the Magnano in Riviera area, a municipality in the Friulian hills in the province of Udine, not far from the Tagliamento river, concludes the festival.
