Frico, a Friulian institution

If there is one dish that tells the soul of Friuli, it is frico: cheese and potatoes cooked in a pan until crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, a simple and ingenious recipe born in peasant kitchens. In Flaibano, a small town in the hills of Udine, this specialty becomes the absolute protagonist of one of the most beloved gastronomic festivals of the Friulian summer: the Sagra del Frico, also known as 'A Tutto Frico'.

Three weekends of taste

Spread over three weekends in August, the festival organized by the Pro Flaibano Association offers frico in all its variations: the traditional classic frico, the frico with herbs prepared with a mix of aromatic herbs from Flaibano's gardens, and the spicy frico for bolder palates. All served with steaming polenta, cured meats, and local wines, in a triumph of genuine flavors.

Music, tournaments, and fireworks

In addition to food, the festival offers a rich entertainment program: live music, dance evenings, popular tournaments, and activities for children, making the festival suitable for all generations. Among the most anticipated events is the fireworks display 'Aspettando Ferragosto' (Waiting for Ferragosto), which lights up the Flaibano sky on the night of August 14th.
