Mountain Flavors at the Foot of the Serio Falls

The Sagra dei Sapori Locali is the autumn gastronomic event of Valbondione, a municipality in the upper Val Seriana in the province of Bergamo. The event is closely linked to one of Lombardy's most evocative natural spectacles: the opening of the Serio Falls, the highest in Italy with its three drops over a 300-meter descent, which are only opened a few times a year.

The Taste of Bergamasco Tradition

The festival takes place at the Palazzetto dello Sport on Via Tarcisio Pacati, where food and craft stalls open from the morning. The menu is a tribute to mountain cuisine: polenta with cured meats and cream, polenta with melted cheese, casoncelli, dumplings in broth, chestnuts, and typical desserts. There are also cheesemaker demonstrations, where the art of cheese making is shown mid-morning and early afternoon, and folk music entertainment with local traditional groups.

A Festival for the Whole Family

Alongside the food, the day offers activities for children, such as the corn pool, and exhibitions of agricultural machinery, farm animals, donkeys, and horses, recreating the atmosphere of the valley's farming culture. The highlight remains the opening of the Serio Falls, usually between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM, when eyes turn to the mountain to admire the cascading water. The Sagra dei Sapori Locali is thus a perfect opportunity to experience Valbondione through nature, taste, and tradition.
