Chestnuts and typical lunch in the ancient village reachable only on foot
Among the mountains of the upper Val Brembana, in the Municipality of Isola di Fondra (Province of Bergamo), Pusdosso is an ancient mountain village in the heart of the Orobie Alps, reachable exclusively on foot. It is here that every autumn the association Amici di Pusdosso organizes its festival, an event that is also an act of love for a place that resists abandonment.
The festival opens in the morning and revolves around the lunch based on local products: stracchino cheese, potatoes, pumpkin with thyme, cotechini (pork sausages), and apple pie, the authentic flavours of Orobic cuisine. In the afternoon, it's time for roasted chestnuts, a symbol of the alpine autumn, to be enjoyed immersed in the village landscape.
As it is an isolated village reachable only on foot, booking is mandatory (by writing to the association or through its social media channels). To facilitate access, a shuttle service is usually provided for half the journey. It is a different experience from the more crowded sagre (local festivals): a return to the slow and genuine dimension of the Bergamo mountains, made possible by the commitment of those who keep the memory of Pusdosso alive.
A new edition of the Festa d'Autunno in Pusdosso is expected for autumn 2026, following the established format: a Sunday in October in the ancient village of Isola di Fondra, reachable on foot, with lunch based on local products and roasted chestnuts in the afternoon.
The precise date has not yet been published at the time of writing. Reservation remains mandatory.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Amici di Pusdosso association. Based on recent editions, the day unfolds as follows:
The typical Orobic lunch in the mountain village and the roasted chestnuts in the afternoon.
Pusdosso, a hamlet of Isola di Fondra (BG), upper Val Brembana. Village reachable exclusively on foot; usually a shuttle service is available for half the journey.
Reach Isola di Fondra by car, driving up the Val Brembana. From there, continue on foot (or by shuttle for part of the journey) to the village of Pusdosso.
Mandatory, by writing to [email protected] or through the social media channels of the Amici di Pusdosso association.
