The most delicious long table in Val di Scalve
The Sagra della Spalla is the gastronomic festival that celebrates one of the symbolic dishes of Val di Scalve in Schilpario, in the province of Bergamo: 'spalla cotta'. Cooked according to tradition and served in abundance, the 'spalla' is the heart of an evening that draws residents and visitors every year, attracted by the authentic flavours of the Bergamo mountains.
The most distinctive feature of the festival is the long table set up along the main street of the village, where hundreds of diners sit together to enjoy the traditional menu. It is a convivial ritual that makes the festival a moment of community, where the entire village gathers around good food.
The menu features, in addition to 'spalla cotta', polenta, potatoes, local cheeses, and dessert, in a journey of flavours that tells the story of mountain cuisine in Val di Scalve. The evening is accompanied by live music, which transforms dinner into a true village celebration, filled with toasts and merriment.
The festival is organized by the Atiesse tourist association of Schilpario, which manages the setup of the long table and the welcome of the numerous participants. Given the large turnout, booking is mandatory and places are limited. For Schilpario and for Val di Scalve, the Sagra della Spalla is one of the most delicious and beloved events of the summer, a symbol of the hospitality and gastronomic tradition of the upper Bergamo province.
The 9th edition of the Sagra della Spalla will be held in Schilpario on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The evening, organized by the Atiesse tourist association, includes an aperitif in the square with the youth group from 5 PM, dinner along Via Padre Maj on a single long table from 7 PM to 9 PM, and live music from 9 PM. The star is 'spalla cotta', the signature dish of Val di Scalve.
