The Pro Loco summer season featuring canederli and music in Ruffrè-Mendola
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Ruffreston is the name under which the Pro Loco Ruffrè-Mendola hosts its summer events in the municipality of Ruffrè-Mendola, in the province of Trento, nestled in the heart of the Val di Non at the foot of the Mendola Pass. It is a series of popular, free events designed to enliven the small mountain village and bring together residents, vacationers, and tourists during the most vibrant season of the year.
The culinary heart of Ruffreston is the Canederli Festival, a celebration dedicated to the signature dish of Trentino and South Tyrolean cuisine: canederli, large bread dumplings flavored with speck, cheese, or herbs, served either in broth or dry. It is the perfect opportunity to taste a traditional Alpine recipe, prepared according to local customs and accompanied by typical valley products. The festival combines fine food with village conviviality in an informal and family-friendly atmosphere.
Alongside the food and wine offerings, Ruffreston also features festive music nights, including the Love Generation event, dedicated to entertainment and dancing. These gatherings are designed for a wide audience, transforming the village's outdoor spaces into a meeting point for young people and families on summer evenings.
Ruffrè-Mendola is a small town in the Val di Non, in Trentino-Alto Adige, famous for its Monte Nock area and its proximity to the scenic Mendola Pass, a historic holiday destination dating back to the Habsburg era. The natural setting of forests, meadows, and trails provides the ideal backdrop for the Pro Loco events, which celebrate the village's identity and traditions.
Ruffreston is born from the voluntary commitment of the Pro Loco Ruffrè-Mendola, an association that organizes numerous cultural and recreational initiatives for the community throughout the year. The summer events are free to attend and offer an authentic way to experience the village, away from the major tourist flows and in direct contact with local life.
The calendar for the 2026 edition of Ruffreston has not yet been made public. Based on previous editions, the Pro Loco Ruffrè-Mendola is expected to host its village events throughout the summer, featuring the Canederli Festival and the Love Generation music night. Dates and programs will be updated as soon as they are officially announced.
Ruffrè-Mendola can be reached by car via the SS42 Tonale and Mendola road; it is located in the Val di Non, about 40 km north of Trento, near the Mendola Pass. The nearest train station is on the Trento-Malé-Mezzana line, which requires a connection by car or bus.
The Ruffreston events organized by the Pro Loco are generally free of charge.
For updated dates and programs, we recommend contacting the Pro Loco Ruffrè-Mendola or the Municipality of Ruffrè-Mendola.
