A cozy Christmas market on the Wine Road

A few kilometers south of Bolzano, nestled between vineyards and the famous Lake Caldaro, the village of Caldaro sulla strada del vino (Kaltern an der Weinstraße) welcomes one of the most intimate and charming Christmas markets in South Tyrol every Advent: S'Kalterer Christkindl. Far from the crowds of the large city markets, the event is concentrated in the historic Piazza del Mercato, in the heart of the town, where festive wooden huts gather around the fountain and the majestic illuminated Christmas tree.

South Tyrolean crafts, flavors, and tradition

The typical wooden stalls offer local handicrafts, Christmas decorations, gift ideas, and regional gastronomic specialties. • The fairy tale forest (Märchenwald) with readings for children, set up in an internal courtyard;
• An exhibition of Krampus masks hosted in the former prison Le Carceri, now an art gallery.
