About Roma Gin Experience

Roma Gin Experience is Rome's premier event dedicated to the world of Italian craft gin. Originally launched as a traveling format across the historic center's rooftops, local bars, and green spaces of the Eternal City, the event brings together independent distilleries from Lazio and Central Italy for a journey of pure tastings, masterclasses, signature gin and tonics, food pairings, and live music. Curated by Rosario La Mastra and barlady Silvia Antonelli, it aims to promote a culture of mindful drinking and the deep connection between spirits and their territory.

Roma Gin Experience: Craft gin takes center stage

Roma Gin Experience is the Roman event entirely dedicated to Italian craft gin, a project that has enlivened rooftops, local venues, and villages across Rome and the Lazio region in recent years. The core philosophy, echoed by the organizers, is simple yet ambitious: today's consumers are not just looking for a product, but for "a story, an experience, and a connection to the land." Each stop becomes an experiential journey where the spirit serves as a gateway to exploring botanicals, craftsmanship, and distilleries.

A journey through tastings, masterclasses, and mixology

The heart of the event is the tasting experience: tasting counters where producers present rare labels often unavailable in mainstream retail, frequently introduced by the creators themselves. Alongside pure tastings, the program features masterclasses and workshops led by industry experts, covering distillation techniques, mixology, and the sensory analysis of gin. The social aspect is equally important, with a curated drink list of gin and tonics and signature cocktails crafted by professional bartenders.

Featured distilleries

The festival highlights producers from Central Italy—Lazio, Umbria, and Marche—alongside established names in national craft distillation. Participants in past editions have included Distilleria Numa, Settebello, Scriptorium Gin, Originario, Aginè, Distilleria degli Umori, and Distilleria Eterea, each showcasing their unique botanical signature, ranging from artichokes and chili peppers to wild herbs and Mediterranean citrus.

Format and atmosphere

Roma Gin Experience alternates between indoor editions in city venues and open-air formats immersed in the greenery on the outskirts of Rome. In every setting, the experience blends tasting, education, and entertainment:

  • Guided tastings and open sampling at distillery counters;
  • Masterclasses and meet-and-greets with producers and industry journalists;
  • Food pairings featuring Roman street food and traditional dishes;
  • Live music, DJ sets, and pure entertainment.

Mindful drinking

A distinctive feature of the project is its focus on the culture of responsible drinking: city editions have included a decompression zone equipped with breathalyzers and a free "Take Me Home" service to ensure a safe return. It is a way to combine the discovery of fine spirits with the safety of all participants.

An event that tells the story of the territory

More than just a fair, Roma Gin Experience acts as a collective narrative of Italian gin within the setting of the Capital. Curated by Rosario La Mastra alongside barlady and mixology expert Silvia Antonelli, the event has become a benchmark for enthusiasts, industry professionals, and curious newcomers eager to explore the world of botanicals and independent distilleries.

Roma Gin Experience — edition 2026

The 2026 Open Air Edition of Roma Gin Experience brought craft gin outdoors to the A-Team Dog Village in Castel Porziano (Infernetto), featuring a pool, bar area, and green surroundings. From 6 PM to 11 PM, guests enjoyed a journey of pure tastings, masterclasses, signature gin and tonics, food pairings, and live music at sunset, featuring independent Italian distilleries.

Roma Gin Experience 2026 — Open Air Edition

For 2026, Roma Gin Experience chose an open-air format, moving to the A-Team Dog Village in Castel Porziano, in the Infernetto area, on the outskirts of Rome. On Friday, May 22, 2026, from 6 PM to 11 PM, the venue transformed into an experiential journey immersed in nature, between the pool and the bar area.

The public was able to taste neat gins at the distillery counters, attend masterclasses dedicated to the culture of distillation, and choose from a drink list featuring signature gin and tonics and cocktails. To complete the experience, a food pairing menu was designed to enhance the botanicals, accompanied by live music at sunset.

Among the participants were Italian craft distilleries such as Distilleria Numa, Settebello, Scriptorium Gin, Originario, Aginè, Distilleria degli Umori, and Distilleria Eterea. The curation was entrusted, as usual, to Rosario La Mastra together with barlady Silvia Antonelli.
