The weekly farmers' market by Coldiretti in the Mezzocammino district
The Campagna Amica Farmers' Market of Mezzocammino is the weekly go-to for farm-fresh produce in one of the youngest neighbourhoods in the southern outskirts of Rome, within the IX Municipality. Held in Largo Sorelle Giussani, the market is managed by the Campagna Amica Foundation, the network promoted by Coldiretti that brings together local farms for direct-to-consumer sales. There are no middlemen here: the stalls are staffed by the very farmers, breeders, and producers who bring the best of the Lazio countryside to the city every week.
The principle is that of the short supply chain: fresh, seasonal, zero-kilometre products, harvested in the Lazio countryside and brought directly to the market stalls. The selection is vast and changes with the rhythm of the seasons:
Many products are available with Organic and PDO certifications, guaranteeing quality and traceability. At the market, you can ask producers for advice, discover traditional recipes, and learn about food seasonality, rediscovering the value of conscious shopping.
The market expands the network of farmers' markets already present in Rome and its province, covering an area of the city that previously lacked one. For the residents of Mezzocammino, it represents a weekly landmark: a small slice of the countryside arriving right at their doorstep, an opportunity to support local agriculture and build community around genuine food. It follows the proven formula of the Campagna Amica Markets, the largest direct-sales network in Europe, which boasts numerous locations across Rome's various districts.
The market is held every Wednesday morning, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with additional openings on Saturdays according to the Foundation's calendar. Operations continue throughout the year, with the usual break in August. Admission is free, and parking and ATMs are available nearby, making it convenient for those arriving from neighbouring districts.
