About Cadenze Letterarie

Literary Cadences is a free cultural festival that has been enlivening the Fiumicino coastline and the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital since February 2025. Conceived and curated by journalist and writer Dino Tropea, it offers monthly events that bring together books, psychology, visual arts, and live music. The usual venue is La Grooveria, on the Lungomare della Salute, which has become a true literary salon open to everyone, with free admission and no profit motive.

A literary salon on the Fiumicino seaside

Literary Cadences was born on February 27, 2025, on the Roman coast with a clear goal: to provide citizens with free meeting spaces where culture becomes an opportunity for dialogue, exchange, and shared growth. Conceived and curated by the Sicilian journalist and writer Dino Tropea, the format has established itself in just a few months as one of the most recognizable events in the Municipality of Fiumicino, within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio Region.

A multidisciplinary model

What sets Literary Cadences apart is the choice not to stop at the classic book presentation. Each evening connects four different languages, following the formula "Between Pages, Sounds, and Visions":

  • Literature — the guest author discusses their work, with readings performed by professional readers;
  • Psychology — a clinical contribution expands the book's theme to the social dimension, from adolescent fragility to the prevention of isolation;
  • Visual Arts — local artists exhibit works created for the evening, which enter into a dialogue with the text;
  • Live Music — young performers and experimental musicians accompany the reading journey.

La Grooveria, home of the festival

The usual venue is La Grooveria, at Lungomare della Salute 53, a space that, thanks to the festival, has transformed into a literary salon by the sea: free, inclusive, and non-profit, capable of giving a voice to authors and welcoming readers in an intimate and informal setting. In summer, the festival moves out of the venue and reaches the Darsena in Fiumicino, where it is part of the municipal "Summer Evenings" program.

A calendar that spans the whole year

Literary Cadences is not a festival concentrated in a few days but a nearly monthly series, with over a dozen official events per year. This regular rhythm has created a community of loyal readers: some evenings have been sold out, and it is not uncommon for passersby on the promenade to join the registered audience, intrigued by the music and outdoor readings.

Authors, artists, and guests

Throughout its editions, the festival has hosted writers from all over Italy, along with psychologists, journalists, librarians, and educators. On the artistic side, masters such as Salvatore Fazio, creator of the work "Literary Cadences" made specifically to represent the format's visual identity, Franco Piratoni, and Giuseppe Basso have taken turns. The organization is curated by Dino Tropea; the Literary Cadences brand is registered, and the project aims to promote the arts as a tool for social bonding, under the patronage of the Municipality of Fiumicino.

Why it is worth attending

For those visiting the Lazio coast, Literary Cadences offers a different look at Fiumicino: not just a port, beaches, and airport, but a community that gathers around books. The free format, the short duration (a little over two hours), and the seaside setting make it an accessible opportunity even for those in the area for just one evening.

Cadenze Letterarie — edition 2026

2026 is a milestone year for Cadenze Letterarie: from the February anniversary to the summer evening at the Darsena, the Fiumicino series has surpassed its seventeenth official edition. Each event combines the presentation of a literary work, interpreted reading, psychological contribution, visual arts exhibition, and live music. Entry remains free, with booking recommended for evenings at La Grooveria.

Cadenze Letterarie 2026

The 2026 calendar for the festival spanned the entire first half of the year with nearly monthly events, alternating between its usual venue, La Grooveria on the Lungomare della Salute in Fiumicino, and outdoor sessions along the coast. In the summer, the festival also made a stop in Rome at Parco Tevere Marconi. The guiding theme remained the «Pages, Sounds, and Visions» formula, which brings books, psychology, art, and music into dialogue.
